We just purchased this diamond, set in rose gold with platinum prongs. It seems to be alot warmer than other I's on the site and I'm a little worried it will be too warm. What do ya'll think? Tia!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, Sjopeacehead!
The Ideal-Scope image shows tremendous light return, so I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how brilliantly white it looks once you see it.
If it's still too warm to your liking, then JA should have no problem with a return/exchange.

“Too warm” is a matter of taste so if you do not have a pre-determined preference for icy white diamonds, you may like the I color. In the end @DejaWiz is correct —JA has an easy return policy so no stress if it isn’t perfect.

I'm an amateur gem photographer and know from experience that you can't trust pics, even from a pro diamond website.
It is very difficult to take pics of gems that are perfect.
Even if you do manage to do that the screens and devices used to view the pics and influence the apparent color of the diamond.
You can trust GIA though to correctly grade the color.

But then there is personal preference.
Some people are extremely bothered by the faintest color in their diamond, and would find only a D E or F would be acceptable.
Then there's size.
A 2 ct I will show more apparent body color than a 1 ct.
Yes, ideal cut does a better job of hiding the color because there is so much bright light return - but that's only when looking down into the top, IOW on-axis.
Off-axis, or looking to the bottom or pavilion (which is how D-Z didmonds are graded) will show more body color.

None of us know how much we'll be bothered by (or prefer) body color till we see it in person in diamonds graded by a legit lab, like GIA.

I think it is very warm. It’s not my preference.
Have you considered not going for internally flawless and getting inhugher color grade?

I would withhold judgment until you receive it. I personally would think an "I" in rose gold would be lovely but I don't know
your color tolerance and you may find it too tinted. On the other hand, it has really great numbers and looks like it will have
really nice light return.

Keep us posted...it looks to be a lovely stone!

What setting did you get?

Thank you! I've had an I color stone before and didn't notice any color whatsoever and this one is a better cut. It appears to be a low I but hopefully I won't notice much warmth with this one either. I just did a basic solitaire, platinum 6 prong setting.

I reset a GIA graded H color diamond into a platinum bezel with a detailed rose gold gallery and bridge. The original setting was all white gold. The rose gold did add an unexpected warmth to the stone due to the metal reflection on the pavilion. I wanted to share this because the perception of the stone “warmth” can be affected on how it is set.

I just looked at the video and it looks much warmer than an I in the video, which immediately makes me think the video was not properly white balanced. (As per Kenny's post above.)

I will also tell you from my many years of experience, that setting the diamond in rose gold is going to make it look much whiter than it actually is.

I think those encouraging you to wait until you receive it are giving you good advice. If you do not like it return it. If you love it, you are golden...

That video looks *way* warmer than my K diamond. I suspect the grading is correct and the video is off. Wait to judge until you see it in person.

With JA, you can also ask for real-time viewing of your stone by gemologist, while you watch. You can interact & ask questions. They helped me immensely to have confidence in my final selection.

Even after purchase - you could request this *and* ask them to compare/contrast to other stones. this could either ease your mind or help you select a different stone. They are pretty great this way.

also wise advice here to wait and see IRL - what *
your* eyes tell you.

I think if you are questioning it now it will always be on your mind. You will always be looking for it or checking to make sure it’s not there to have peace of mind. Also, you will be constantly comparing to other peoples rings. I color does have warmth. I think you should bite the bullet and try to raise the budget to get an H on this momentous purchase, perhaps put off another expense for a little while to go up to H color. I think you eioo uktimarelu be much happier and satisfied. I don’t think you will ever feel truly confident about the warmth/tint issue if you go with the I. A video or live zoom or whatever with jeweler in their office or whatever isn’t real life out in the world in a million different settings. Sorry to be blunt but I don’t want you to ever question your choice and I firmly believe if you are now it is always going to be there… even to the point where you think you are seeing things that are not there.

I would not use platinum prongs, keep all rose gold as the contrast helps improve the color.
I never understood Flawless in anything other than D?
If you want perfection then that's what it is.
You can have nicer sparkly looking D E F VS2 SI1 for the same money or less in some combos?

This is a gorgeous diamond, no doubt!! I think @oncrutchesrightnow is correct that this is all a matter of personal preference. But I also agree with @Garry H (Cut Nut) that, if you are concerned about the warmth, it may be worth it to up the color grade and lower the clarity grade. I am highly sensitive to color in diamonds, so I know that anything below an F (or maybe G) will likely irk me. And the larger the diamond, the more apparent the color will be. But I'm more tolerant of inclusions, and tend to stay in the VS range. Coming from a colored stone background, I'm just shooting for eye clean. Cut quality, on the other hand, is a non-negotiable for most PSers, I think. And this diamond is a winner in that respect! Anyway, good luck!! I hope you check back in with us.
