Would it be a bad idea?

Hello all,
I am going to be selecting a diamond for my wedding ring. I have chosen to go with the attached Erika Winters setting. I was drawn to the vintage feel of the setting. One question I have is if I would be doing the setting a disservice by going with a modern cut diamond vs something more like a OEC? I thought I was more drawn to the modern cuts (personal preference) but spending a bit more time on this forum has made me realize that there are some very beautiful OEC diamonds out there. I'd value any thoughts on if any of you think that the ring would look more harmonious with something like an OEC? Would it be a 'crime' to set a MBC?

I think it would be beautiful with whatever diamond you choose! Go with your heart and pick your favorite - you will be looking at it every day for years to come

Is there a local jeweler near you who carries both modern rounds and OECs so you can compare in person? I think either would work beautifully in the setting, so it comes down to which one speaks to you more.
