So I’m debating with myself. A possibility came up for me to grab this OMC, G, SI, 1.92 ct. price around 7000 but debatable. Sorry, no better pics, no certificate.
What do you think?! It’s a lot of money so...
No!! How do you know it’s a G if there us no certificate to prove it? Please don’t jump on what you perceive to be a “deal” without more info! That’s a lot of money!
With no certificate the stats are all questionable. Plus that’s not a good pic at all. Did you see a video and/or more pictures? As my dad would say, that’s not chump change.
If you proceed would you keep it as is? If not I’m curious if any PSers have purchased old cuts in bezel settings and what the girdle looked like when unmounted. I’ve read a few people on here suggest a bezel setting for a damaged / very thin girdle and wonder if there are a lot of bezel settings out there hiding some damage. Asking because I’ve been tempted by an old cut in a similar setting but was too nervous about what it would look unmounted.
Can you get a video? And is it returnable? I can definitely see why you would be tempted with that price and size. But video and return policy plus rep of vendor is important. Keep us posted!
What is the depth? How do they know carat weight so specifically (is the setting new)? If its a typical OMC, it’s got a high crown and it’s deep, so it could be over 1.92 carats with those measurements depending on depth. Or it could have a very shallow crown or a shallow pavilion. From the photo, it looks like possibly a shallow crown?
If it’s a typical cut OMC that’s REALLY 1.92 carats the dimensions would be smaller IMO, unless there’s something untypical about the depth or crown or there’s a chip....
Do you have side-angle shots to see the crown?
Kgizo is correct, a modern bezel is sometimes hiding something. A 1.92 carat 8X8mm G color OMC is rare. IMO, $7,000 is a decent price, but if it’s got a massive girdle chip hidden by the setting you should know. You also need to ask directly why they call it an SI1. What inclusions are they aware of?
