i asked a simple question on the knot.com and they were all so nasty to me! sheesh! isnt that what message boards are for, to ask questions from people who''ve been there/done that and are in the know?

Oh yeah! I haven''t been on the knot, but was on ultimate wedding for awhile while helping my friend plan her wedding. On UW it seemed to be about 50/50 nice to mean, but they all mentioned how nasty the gorls on the knot were...so I never got tempted to go over.

I really like the sense of community that has developed here at pricescope. Real people with positive attitudes and help when you need it!

Im spoiled by how kind and helpful the people of pricesope are. When i started planing and reading the knot message boards, i was shocked at how childish some women were acting.. my friend has a bio up and they are constantly making fun of her,, her dress... theres no mediator, so everyone can say whatever they want. You are right punchnpie, its so much better to post here

I do agree in general but I have founda f ew really good boards over there- one is the local Northern California board (the girls on the NH board are really nice and helpful too - I have posted some questions over there as well), and the getting in shape board is really nice as well.

But in general, yes, PS does spoil you!!

OMG, I just read some of the posts on the message boards on the knot for the first time.... How old are these people - 10? I have never seen such childish, mean, rude responses on a message board. It made me want to cry for the poor brides that were picked on. Who the hell would want to marry those bitches?

I agree that the local boards on the knot are much better than the general board. I check the Toledo board a lot and girls usually respond with more of a sense of community.

I have no intention of EVER posting over there!!!

I was looking for pics of up do''s and just skimming through the bio''s and posts to pull out ideas. One poor girl asked about the same thing and they ripped her apart!! They were even nasty to the couple of people who tried to write a sensible response and give advice. Nasty Girls!!

I think it''s totally out of order to pick holes in other brides bio''s. Everyone has different taste and a wedding is so personal, it''s just not appropriate to be horrible about peoples ideas. If they ask for advice there''s always a nice way of putting it, isn''t there?!! Otherwise the best response, is no response.

OK - I''ve finished venting now and will go back to filling up our hard-drive with more Gigabytes of info.

Can you post some links? Or tell me where to look. Now I''m interested in seeing what some of these girls say. So far, I just looked in a couple of sections and it wasn''t that bad. Found only one post, and it was the poster asking if she was being catty or not (yes she was; hilariously so from a guy''s point of view).

Most of the mean responses I saw were in the "wedding woes" section. Totally mean posts. Like I said, it made me want to cry. I''ll NEVER post on any of those forums. I''ll just keep my questions and responses to the lovely Pricescope members. I''ve NEVER had a bad reply or anything on here.

I have to say that I agree to some degree, I find the Planning and Etiquette board one of the worst. (The irony of which I have still not recovered!) But like AG said, the Northern CA boards is GREAT and I find so much useful stuff on there.. absolutely no ''trolling'' and when someone gets a tad catty there''s always someone else that calls them out on it (but I''ve only seen that happen once or twice in the past month or two)

I think it''s more difficult because there''s such a large number of members on theknot; PS is a much smaller community (IMO) and I find the local boards much friendlier since many of the names are familiar, and there''s a lot of support. It depends on the board really, I''ve posted on Dress occasionally and they''ve been helpful too.

I only go to the Advice from Brides and the local board (st. louis). Most of the "girls" on the other boards are trolls.

the rest are pretty safe.. Advice from Brides has its days

The dress board is very helpful almost always.. thats where I hang out.
Local Boards are good
Ceremony Ideas and Reception Ideas are usually pretty helpful too
