and disturbingly, ugly.

Is this bothering anyone else?

I don''t care whose side you''re on... but MAN are they regressing into UGLY campaigning I cringe each time I read something new.

Someone has to get a grip.

Sorry, it''s just REALLY bothering me. Killing all the hope I had we''d see dignity and grace restored, at least a little, to the election procees.

I''m just disgusted.

Yeah, and the thing that I can''t stand, which I''ve mentioned here before, is that the one who loses to the other will be grinning from ear to ear -- as if he/she supported the other all along. That''s just so fake. Sling mud one minute, pat your former opponent on the back the next.

I mean, I get it, but why get into all the negativity in the first place?

This is something I''ve asked myself since I began paying attention to politics. Which was pretty young because my dad is a huge fanatical Democrat and he took me when I was tiny to all kinds of stuff. I always wanted to know, "Daddy, why are they so mean?"

I don''t get the negativity but I understand it as well. Right now, I really think that Hillary is starting to exhibit symptoms of bad-loseritis and Obama is just trying to keep the peace, but while slinging some mud back at her when opportunity presents itself. A few comments in that last debate were very telling...but most of the negative ones were coming from the Clinton side...

I know mud slinging has always been around and probably always will be but it''s just frustrating. They all do it though, even the ones I like.

I think MSN had something on its homepage that mentioned Newsweek believeing that Clinton should "exit gracefully."

Ah, here''s the Newsweek article: http://www.newsweek.com/id/114725/

Oh my gosh. I''m watching CNN right now and they''re talking about negative campaigning, and Hillary looks and sounds...like an evil female doggy. She apparently gave railing on Obama for sending out mailers that are "false". But she''s coming off BADLY. Really REALLY BADLY...

I''m going to go read the article now.

Geez, I know. I can''t even watch the debates, and I try to limit how much of the news coverage I expose myself to each day. It''s naive to expect them to be all lovey-dovey, but when you have such historic circumstances for an election, why the hell can''t they capitalize on that fact and try to gain overall support for their party rather than alienating people who might be more on the fence?

Somewhat off-topic: Jon Stewart''s line at the Oscars about the asteroid cracked me up, anyone else catch it? Something about with the way Hollywood movies depict America, if there''s a female or black president in office, then an asteroid MUST be about to hit the Statue of Liberty.

I think its hilarious, anyone else remember the fit she threw when her health care package was rejected and the Dem''s lost the house and senate?
Hillary feels like she owns the democratic party and its rejecting her.
Its going to get even more funny as the convention gets closer!

On one hand, I want her to drop out so that I can stop analyzing her and not have to listen to her poor loser b*tching, but on the other hand, she''s highly entertaining and I don''t want her to drop out.

Anyone think she''ll bow out with any kind of grace?

On a personal note, my daughter and I watched the last debate after I read here that it was on television that night. (My husband and I stopped watching television when our daughter was born and we threw out some good things along with the bad things! We often don't know when we might want to turn on the television unless something in the newspaper or on the Internet alerts us!)

My daughter has never been very interested in politics and it was, therefore, very pleasant to see her become immersed in the debate. She stayed up late and watched all the post-debate coverage and then scoured the Internet for more information. She even read some articles that I sent her from, "The New York Times".

I am a liberal Democrat and her father is a conservative Republican. I suggested to him that instead of just badmouthing liberals, that he join with me in trying to educate her. I have recommended John McCain's autobiography to her for, although I haven't read it, a friend has and it seems right up my daughter's alley. She likes real books more than fiction and I think the stories about how the soldiers survived as prisoners of war would be very moving. (I also want her to know that Senator McCain opposes torture!)

At any rate, we will be watching the debate tonight. She is on top of it and won't let me forget for one second now that she has the bug! She informed me last night that it is tonight and that it is the last debate. I am very proud that I seem to be raising an educated voter!

That is so great! I love that you are trying to present both sides to her.
