When it rains, it pours....

So far FI''s mother AND his father want to give us seperate "receptions"--FMIL wants to do it before the wedding, FFIL just after. Well, that''s nice, and it means we can keep our wedding relatively small (please lord below 70 people...) without offending FI''s apparently huge family.

So that was nice..

And then I get an email from my grandmother all but guilt-tripping me into letting her and my grandfather pay for the catering and a cake.

I mean, not that I needed guilt-tripping, but it was sort of cute, considering that she is the least guilty person ever.

So this thread is actually to ask, what flavors do you think most people enjoy as filling in a chocolate cake:

chocolate-raspberry
OR
chocolate-orange
OR
chocolate-chocolate

Annnnnd to show you a picture of the cake I think we''ve decided on:

from these people: http://www.jacquespastries.com/index.htm

And in lavender or possibly darker purple? accents instead of pink.

Do you think a royal purple/other jewel toned shade of purple or green accent would work or ruin the look of the cake? Best to stick with lavender or not?

Lucky duck! Great news on the reception(s)! I''m a huuuuge chocolate fan, and I think chocolate orange or raspberry (which is what we''re doing- raspberry), because all chocolate is too much for me.

The cake is beautiful!!!

Yes, you''re so lucky! I wish my grammy would INSIST on paying for something. So far, not a peep!

Mmmm... chocolate and orange.

Chocolate-raspberry, hands down.

It''s so nice to have so many people willing to help!

My vote is for chocolate raspberry! I love that cake, and think it would smashing with darker jewel-toned purple accents rather than the lavender!

FI votes for chocolate raspberry as well. I like chocolate orange but more in things like chocolate bars with bitter orange peel.

I wish I could manip the photo to show jewel tones....maybe FI can do it with photoshop when he comes back from his business trip.

My vote is for choco-rasberry as well!!

Hey Rainbow, ever made pudding from scratch? I used one of those bars with the dark choc and orange in it to make pudding once. It was crazy. I also use it in choco-chip cookies with the choco-orange bar crushed up instead of choco-chips.

I''ve actually never done pudding or mousse from scratch, although both are on my "things to try baking" list :-)

chocolate chocolate.

But raspeberry is a second.

WoW! You are a lucky girl! I wish someone would "insist" on helping pay for something, anything...oh well!

I love that cake and think it looks gorgeous as-is, and I cast a vote for chocolate-raspberry...yum!

Gotta go...getting hungry over here!

chocolate raspberry and dark purple accents.

definitely. yum!

I vote chocolate-raspberry or chocolate-chocolate!
