WTB WTB: 2.3ct precision cut cool grey cushion spinel

In the second half of last year a PriceScoper had a 2.3ct cushion cut grey spinel for sale. I had hoped to buy it at the time then a family emergency made that impossible. I have recently contacted the previous owner to see if the gem is still available, but it was sold.

If, per chance, you are the person who bought the spinel and have decided it might not meet your needs, pls contact me; I'll pay full price with a premium immediately.

I know this is a long shot, but I've forever regretted letting it go.

It wasn't me but I sympathize. I let a moonstone go a few years ago because I couldn't afford to set it, and have regretted it ever since. Hope you are reunited with your stone!

I've got a shifty mid grey oval for sale. It's 2.19 carats. The big EC is on hold at this point in time, but if that changes I can let you know. Both stones colour change from a mid grey with a hint of purple indoors to a mid grey blue outside. The EC is marginally darker than the oval. I'm very fussy about what I pick stone wise. Link;

I had my eye on this one and it's a cushion cut. It's not 2.3 ct, but it looks gorgeous! If you can live with smaller- it's precision cut and just out of my price range- which is why I'm not snatching it up! If it's still available it may be a good replacement!

The allure of the one I missed out on was that the stone was cut like an old cut cushion; big facets, rounded sides. I'll attach a photo to show you what it looked like. I doubt I'll ever see something similar again, and the more I think of it, the more I'm KICKING MYSELF!

I'm not trying to break the rules since this is preloved but Elle at the Gemstone Project (on Etsy) has a lead on a similar spinel. Contact her.

Great minds think alike, arkie - TheElms referred to the same stone above! I think it's a lovely stone and in fact contacted Elle to see if she was able to source the same thing, only larger. Hers is .85ct and the one I was looking at was 2.3ct. No such luck tho, so at the risk of being a pain in the neck, I re-contacted the seller of the original stone to see if she knows how I can hunt down one similar. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something might come of that; her dealer is not in the US and is a personal contact of hers. Fingers crossed!!
 
Oh the spinel I was thinking about is not on Elle's site but is from a vendor contact of hers and is around 4ct.
 
Contact Jeff Davies show him the photo of the stone and tell him the size you want - he has custom cutters that work for him and this coloured spinel is not difficult to find, nice cut ones are more difficult to find but he can custom cut material he already has;

Contact prima gems too. They have large grey spinel cushion last I checked. I got a grey spinel cut like that from them before, 2 CT for a few hundred. I ended up selling it . Here is a photo of stones prima sent me a few months ago. Particularly the purple ones on the top left and bottom right seem promising.
