WTB feelers for 500ish engagement ring.

As people know I'm looking for an engagement ring for my FBIL. his budget is tight, used be be 700, but he's lowered it. 500 is ideal but if you have something worse a little more but would fit the bill please let me know.

Looking for vintage, art deco-y, preferably a center stone over 4mm. Not too over the top but a nice filigree one would be great. Yellow gold is welcome! So is a marquise (.5ct or above though)


I figure I'd anyone has one they were selling, or willing to part with, I should cover all my bases.

I have a 3.5mmish single cut that's very nice with MBF that's in need of a good home, and a friend with other loose stones. Are you up for finding a setting, or would that likely push the budget?

I'm still holding out hope for a diamond. I don't like white sapphires, and I have seen rings that can fit the bill. Here's the one we are currently looking at
