I would love to find an antique platinum French Cut diamond band or eternity band ring to wear as my wedding band. I am kicking myself for letting the one on JbEG get away! ;( I wear a size 4.5 normally, but I think I could maybe go up to a 5 since this will be stacked with my engagement ring. Please let me know if you have any leads or if you have one for sale!

Thank you! I did see this listing, but it is pretty far out of my budget. Ideally, I'd like to stay in the $2,000 range at the max. Plus, I'm trying to find a true vintage piece, as opposed to doing a custom reproduction, but I might go that way, depending on how long I have to leave this WTB up! I appreciate your help!

Thank you - I did see Circe's ring and have contacted her about it, but at a size 7, she didn't think it could be safely sized down to my size. Sadness..... ;(

This is a bit like Cinderella, since the eternity band would have to be an exact fit. A regular band, however, would be more flexible, as they might be sized.

Well, if you're willing to wait, I'm sure the perfect one will eventually come along! I'll keep this thread in mind if I see anything (though I'm sure we both visit the same sites).

Sorry, Ckh - I'm keeping an eye out for you!

BTW, I *do* think mine can be sized down, I'm just not sure about size 4. I have a really good custom guy, though - do you want me to bring it in to him? He resized one of my other eternities from an 8.25 to a 6.5, and it had a roughly equivalent sizing band. I bet he could get it down to a 5.5 or so, and after that maybe sizing pads could work ... but I realize that's a bit more work and agita than just finding one that fits. Vintage is a CRUEL mistress sometimes.

ETA: Thanks for thinking of me, Sortmon!

Circe, I do love your eternity band. I just wouldn't want to hurt the ring in the resizing process, but your jeweler sounds like some sort of magician! I do admit that I'm not 100% sure how it would work though.....sizing band? sizing pads?...

k_darling, thank you for the link! I think this is a very promising possibility if I do decide to forgo my vintage hunt and go the custom route. I'm starting to get impatient. You know, that feeling of....why can't it just show up already???

marymm, wow, that ring is gorgeous. And a true antique piece to boot! I absolutely love the milgrain and etching details on the sides of the ring. I want to contact them to see clearer pictures of the stones, since I can't quite see the French cut baguettes. And thanks for introducing me to Israel Rose! New site to troll for new (vintage) lovelies!!

Thank you all for the suggestions! Please keep them coming!

Ckh04, I had a french cut eternity sized down. Like you, I wanted a true antique. It worked out great, I think, considering the ring went from a 7.5 to a 4.5. It's still an eternity (no sizing bar), and was done with a laser welder, I believe it's called. So go for it! I'll see if I can get some pictures that show where the sizing was done, as it's visible on close inspection. Normal viewing conditions don't show anything, though.

Kefira, thank you for your input. I'm happy to find someone who was in the same boat as me, and especially excited that your ring was successfully resized! I would love to see the pictures of your ring!

Forgive the lighting (it's nighttime here) and my destroyed hands (mostly cropped out, thank goodness). I just finished a project I really should have worn gloves to do. I think these give the general idea, however. If you go forward, tell the jeweler the size you are aiming for, and they can remove the appropriate number of stones to get as close as they can. Don't forget to get back the extras, it's great to have some spares in case you need them. I had them take out the most beat up ones that were beside one another, and they just sliced out that section of the ring. I also had them add the migraine. Here's what I ended up with:

I hope these are helpful to you. Good luck! :))

Wow, that looks amazing! If you didn't tell us that it was resized, I probably never would have known. That seems to be a viable option, but I noticed on Etsy that Circe's ring is reserved. So, the search continues....

Please post any leads - all ideas welcome. I keep debating if it's worth staying the course in finding a true antique piece and potentially not getting what I want (not Frenchies, not exactly the right size, etc.) or giving in and going custom and getting everything, except that it's a reproduction...

I agree that it looks like it could be French cuts but I'm no expert.

Also, it looks like the rings are unavailable or sold - did you put a hold on them?

Thank you for your opinion sortmon! I got so excited that they looked like French cuts and they were in my exact size that I just pulled the trigger on the rings. I should get them next week and will take more of my own pics. Beladora removes their web pages fast, so here is a screenshot for anyone who can't access the link:
