Hi there, anyone looking for an upgrade and intending thefore to sell their pre-loved AVC? Either as a loose stone or also as ring (if then preferably in platinum)? I will be glad to specify more stats, but I do not want to narrow down the search too much. I am looking for a 1.5ct stone (1.4ish also ok) or bigger, clarity does not matter as long as eyeclean.

Thank you, that is about the only one... GOG has far too good upgrade/buy-back policies haha :)

Hi DiamondXXX,

Would you possibly be interested in an AVC Star diamond? I may want to sell a 1.72 M color AVC star in a rose gold setting.

hi LynneJD, I prefer the look of the classic AVCs, but since each stone is so different it really comes down to the single diamond in question, its facets and proportions. You seem to be not sure... please definitely come back to me should you figure it out. Do you have pictures? Are you interested in selling the diamond only or the ring altogether? Any further details and pictures are very welcome!

Hi DiamondXXX, thanks for your reply!

I am definitely wanting to change up my ring, but am not sure if I want to do so through GOG (in which case I would just use their upgrade policy) or if I want to try something new since GOG doesn't currently have any stones with the specs I want. I really loved working with them, but I'm on a bit of a time crunch to get the upgrade done before my wedding date.

I'm more than happy to share some photos! The setting is an 18k rose gold Vatche Caroline solitaire with a 2 mm shank, pave around the basket, and double prongs. I've attached (hopefully - this is new to me!) some photos, and here is the link to a youtube video of my diamond (1.72 M VS2 AVC star) compared to two traditional AVCs: **edited by moderator, please read our policies**..... I hope it's ok that I posted that link. If it needs to be deleted, the video can be found on the GOG Diamond Lab Youtube page, uploaded Dec. 4th, 2014. I've never seen an original AVC in person, so I can't offer any helpful comparisons, but I do know I love the look of the star.

It has strong blue flour, which in my (amateur) opinion makes it face up whiter than I expected of an M color. Purchased late last December. I truly love everything about the diamond and setting, except the ONE place the color of the diamond bothers me is under my horrible office lighting. Since that's where I spend most of my time, I've decided I need to go up in color.

Although I'd prefer to sell the ring complete, I'm open to selling just the diamond on its own.

Sorry for such a long post! Let me know if you have any more questions. The star is definitely a different look from the AVC, but it's pretty stunning. Good luck to you in your search for an AVC!

Dear LynneJD - the diamond is really beautiful. Very feminine, like lace and cream... my thoughts are though that it might be best FOR YOU to use it for un upgrade via GOG instead of selling second hand. Like.that you can get all its value back and use it towards the upgrade. Since if I buy it (and therefore loose the upgrade/rebuy etc benefits, I expect for a better price to go with the deal). What are the specs you would prefer and when is the wedding due? How exciting. BtW can you imagine this stone set in platinum? Or is it too warm for that? How about the price - what are your thoughts on that? And where are you located?

I think you're absolutely right DiamondXXX - I would be better off using the upgrade. It is probably silly for me to try to rush an upgrade rather than wait for GOG to get in some new AVCs and AVC stars that fit my specs. I guess I just want so badly for my "forever" ring to be the one in my wedding photos. Don't know why that is so important to me. Wedding is in July!

In 99% of lighting situations, I think it would look lovely in platinum. In lighting like what is in my office, I honestly think a platinum setting against the color of the diamond would bother me, but that is just me personally.

As far as pricing goes, I had spoken with a friend of a friend who was interested (she ended up going with a round diamond instead), and we had agreed on something close to $8700 for the entire ring. That's a little less than 75% what I spent. I would probably have to rethink that if I was selling just the diamond, since I can get 75% of what I paid for the diamond back from GOG.

This is my first time selling a piece of jewelry, so please let me know if my pricing is unrealistic. I should receive a diamond from another vendor sometime next week to see if it compares to GOG's cushions. I think I'll know more after that if I really want to list my ring for sale. I'll try to take some real camera photos by then and maybe make a listing on LoupeTroop. I'm in Virginia, so if you're nearby I'd be happy to meet up so you can see the ring/diamond in person!

dear lynneJD, take your time - just please promise me you will let me know here should you put it up for sale ok? :)

What is it that you want? Since 1) GOG can source you other cushions (since if you go outside GOG it means you are not getting an AVC) and 2) David mentioned me they can cut to order and those (more than) 2 months might be enough to get everything ready. If I was you, I would first really focus on what I want and then contact them to see if they can deliver it.

I know I am with this sort of going against my own interests, but at the same time it would be a pitty for you to switch and lose money based on the current inventory if there is a way to do it differently. Can you return the AVC and switch when selecting your upgrade for another cushion type ? I can imagine you can. Or would they only return 75% if you dont get another AVC?

Who else do you think about collaborating with? I was thinking about Victor Canera cushions (they are also AGS000, but I prefer AVCs), plus with GOG your budget stays bigger and so can your diamonds ;)

You're very kind to think of what would be best for me and my wallet Diamondxxx :)

I have one of Victor's CACs coming next week for me to take a look at actually! I am interested to see how I like it. I'm happy to send some photos of it your way once it arrives if you're interested. Have you seen one of them in person? What makes you prefer the AVC? From the videos I've watched I think I'm inclined to agree with you, but I decided I needed to get my hands on one to really know.

I think you're right that I need to figure out exactly what I want and see if there is any way GOG can make it happen in a (relatively) short amount of time. But if that fails, you will be the first to know about my AVC being for sale! Thanks for all of your patience and kind advice - I'm a total newbie at this!

Wow, that is so exciting! I understand that it is hard to evaluate and compare based on two diamonds only, but still I cannot wait to get your feedback and see some photos. What size and specs diamond did you order? CACs are my alternative choice too, plus I love VC settings and the inventory now is so much more interesting. I am from Europe so I actually discovered these cuts via the internet and have not seen any of them live. For me the AVCs I have seen so far appear somehow more balanced and I consider them to be more original. The first ones.. The videos and information provided by GOG is amazing too, so I was able to evaluate each diamond I found interesting much more into detail. VC is more limited, you can order 1 video only and it shows the diamond in a limited way I think.. Anyway - each stone of these two cuts is so different though that I simply have to consider each on their own. I cannot wait for your update. How shall we stay in touch?

Yes I'm very excited! I actually happened upon one of your previous posts, and I believe the one I ordered may be the one you had been looking at - what a coincidence! It's a 1.895 carat J color CAC. I think I would really like to hit the 2 carat mark, so I may return it for a larger one if I like the CAC. I'd love to keep in touch - seems like we have similar taste! **edited by moderator, please do not post personal contact information on the forum for everyone's safety**
