I have been a lurker on PS for a long time and I am ready to begin collecting higher quality gems than what I currently have. During my learning here and past purchases, I realized that cut is a very important factor to me in colored stones and I would like to purchase some precision cut gems. I would like to buy the following types of gems that have been precision cut:
-Spinel (any color)
-Sapphire (any color but untreated is preferable)
-Garnet (any color as long as it is vibrant)
-Chrysoberyl

Size is not important to me, I love small and large stones equally, and I have no preferences in terms of shape.

Here is my LT listing:

TIA :)

Welcome Gemhunter250! So good that you've come out of lurkdom and into the world of COLOR!!!

Since there is such a broad range of sizes, qualities and prices for the stone types you have chosen, it might be a good idea to give us an idea of your budget and a sense of priorities. For example, is there one stone you want more than others or are willing to pay more for than the others?

If I were you, and money was no object, I would look at both DB and LT and filter it by gemstones or natural stones/whatever they categorize it as and start looking at what they have. IIRC, they periodically have some unsold beauties - things get knocked off the front page and buried there so quickly that its a good idea not to dismiss those items that haven't sold, but instead take another look.

For example, here is a blue sapphire cut by Jeff White:

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure its the subject of this thread here:

Ironically for the title, Athenaworth did not end up keeping it (yes, there was much angst on her part about selling it)!

Hi Minousbijoux and thanks so much for the welcome! You posted some great advice. I will provide some updated information. I am trying to create three sets of stacking rings and I need nine stones of varying shapes, sizes, and colors. I have a preference for gems that are at least eye clean. In all honesty, I do not have a preference in terms of color, shape, or size. I am very partial to spinels and garnets but I also love sapphires and chrysoberyl, too. I was hoping to spend around $5,000 for all of the stones.
