WTB: PS quality diamond in platinum halo

Anyone looking to sell a PS quality diamond in a platinum halo setting with "sunken" melee?

My son is preparing to propose , and his girlfriend has indicated that this is the kind of engagement ring she wants. My job is to help him find a great ring she will love at his price point.

Actually, she just told him this evening that she prefers a cushion cut instead of a RB. I think what she means is that she wants the center diamond above the halo.

His budget is $12-15k, but I also told him she would probably want an upgrade later, especially after she gets to spend more time with me....

He didn't know if she'd like antique or modern. I did ask. He thought, maybe, modern, but wasn't sure.

I think Victor would charge in the $4k range for his Emilya setting.

The one thing he needs to know is that cushions are deeper than rounds which makes them face up smaller. The stone above is only 6.5 x 6.95 mm whereas a 1.55 ct round would be about 7.4mm in diameter. Most girls probably do not realize that. I think I'd want one a little less elongated for an engagement ring, personally. But it would be awesome if she has shown him pictures of what she likes.

You should see if she would be happy with an RB in a cushion shaped halo, that is another way to get a cushion shaped ring but with the fire and scintillation of an RB and a better face up size of the centre stone. Having said that if she has her heart set on a cushion I understand that too. If she likes Antique cushions this (if it is eyeclean) is a nice stone;

That is a good idea. I will ask him to check with her to see. I suggested they go try on some, then take pictures of the ones she likes and send them to me so I can ask all of you experts here to be sure he gets the most beautiful ring he can for his money.
