Fashion question for the fashion challenged (you know most of us males are when it comes to stuff like this)

Are fancy light yellow diamonds suitable for daily wear or are they considered more as evening, cocktail ring type stones?

In your opinion, are they more of a fad or would you say they are as timeless as other colored stones as blue sapphires for example?

Thanks so much for your help.

I don't subscribe to many "should" and "shouldn't" rules. Heck, P.Diddy sports a huge fancy yellow diamond pinky bling.

I like fancy yellow diamonds, but they have to be a strong yellow. I wish Gemesis would start releasing their synthetic yellow diamonds in reasonable sizes. A few years ago, they said they could be produced for half the going price or less.

VH,

You mean like one of these?

WOW... those are actually quite reasonable! Hrmmm... maybe I made the wrong choice?

J/K... I don't think the GF would have liked it as much. But perhaps for my own P.Diddy Bling?

Why not?
Greg (Mara's s-o) sported a small ACA for his wedding ring. You can sport a small vivid yellow bling of your own. I bet that would be cool.

I'm not partial to yellows (just my preference, though I love the intensity of the color!). Give me the pinks and blues any day...

Damned you KatBadness... You are a Bad Bad Kat!

I've gone and bookmarked that site and now I will wind up checking back on the blue, pink AND yellow diamonds.

You are indeed the human equivalent of kat badness.

Fancy Light Yellow diamonds are being worn by quite a few people as engagement rings nowadays.

Fancy Light Yellow is not very expensive compared to either colorless diamonds- or the darker yellows. Also - you can buy a natural diamond witrh a GIA report for around the same price as something grown in a test tube.

Most folks buying them as wedding/engagement usually pick the more traditional settings

Below is a 4.09 Fancy Light Yellow VVS2 Cushion flanked by half moons- very traditional in design, yet unusual in material ( the center diamond stands out)

My jaw almost dropped when I saw the prices of those, until I noticed they were lab grown. Now another variable in the mix.

David, thanks for the pics, I may be contacting you as soon as my wife make up her mind... if you're not old and retired by then.

One day it's jubilee, no, radiant, no, queen of hearts, no, fancy yellow, no, maybe blue gemstone, no, back to jubilee.... pave band, no, plain band, no.... And she says she really stressed out over this!

VH... I share your pain.

Well, thankfully, MY pain is almost over. (Of course, I do have short panic attacks about returning it and getting a whopper mediocre Princess, just to have the size.)

But when I look at it, I fall in love with it all over again, despite it's modest size. After its set, and there's nothing I can do about it, I will feel much better.

Strike that, once its on her hand, then I'll feel much better!
