...based on their garbage.

BF had a bunch of stuff that needed to be shredded after he cleaned out his file cabinet recently. He gave me all of the old papers and receipts and I just started attacking the pile with my shredder tonight. I couldn''t help but read some of the stuff as I was arranging it into shred-able amounts, I swear I wasn''t being nosy!

It''s amazing how much you can learn about someone just from their paperwork, including the fact that THE GUY LIKES TO BUY JEWELRY.

I found at least three old receipts for different pieces of jewelry he had purchased in the past, and there was even an IGI appraisal card shoved in the bag of stuff. It''s from a promise ring he bought his last ex, three small stones and a few chips set into yellow and white 14k gold. Not my preference, but pretty. I know how completely awful she was to him, so I took a tiny little shred of delight (ha! pun intended!) in destroying the receipts and the IGI card.

Even though the receipts were not pieces bought for me, I took them as an encouraging sign. How could you NOT want a guy who likes to gift with jewelry???

I''ll tell BF about my "finds" later tonight - he''ll think it''s funny.

Cute thread idea!

This is funny, but true. I put my garbage out this morning on the way to work. My kitchen garbage pail is rather small, and I use grocery bags as liners, rather than buy commercial garbage bags. In the garbage that I threw out this morning was:

1) Empty Apple & Eve juiceboxes (you can tell I have a kid)
2) Empty Mrs. Renfro salsa jars (green and habanero), kidney bean can and empty
Old El Paso tortilla bag (eats like a southwesterner and likes hot food)
3) Empty bottle of Jim Beam (likes whiskey enough to buy the 1L bottle)
4) Tons of junk mail/catalogs (does a lot of mail order)
5) Empty container of Paul Mitchell RoundTrip (has curly or wavy hair)

When my BF and I cleaned out his mother's apartment, we found a proliferation of religious mail. I mean A TON of it from religious organizations, looking for donations. She watched Mass on TV 2x a day and was very Catholic. 4 commercial garbage bagfull Catholic. My BF made the joke that when his mother passed away, Heaven threw a parade and a week-long party in her honor.

My BF's trash contains varying amounts of four things: frozen pizza and other convenience food boxes and wrappings, billing statements/receipts from the commercial lumber supply place a few towns over, junk mail and 1-3 40lb pellet bags. From this, you can tell that he's a bachelor that doesn't cook much, is a contractor or someone who is doing a lot of work on their house, also does a lot of mail order and has a pellet stove that heats the whole house. He cleaned out his office a couple weeks ago and I noticed several shredded up photos of his ex. He is angry at her of late....

Ladies, what does your / your man's trash say?

Bridget in Connecticut.
