Shipping a ring from USA to France (Cross Post from Antique Jewelry)

Has anyone had recent experience shipping internationally a piece of jewelry from USA to France (Paris)?

Is it at all possible to return an antique ring (antique silver/gold with one gem and diamond chips) that is purchased via Etsy from France, back to a France-based vendor. Eg, can USA customers of Etsy France, actually return items that are technically returnable? Or is this something one should not expect to be able to return due to international shipping limitations or import policies.

I’d appreciate hearing best way to send, your experience with insurance and customs, etc.

Hi, I’m asking in anticipation of the event, if I want to return it. I want to know how possible it actually is (to consider a returnable antique ring actually returnable).

I do wonder if Etsy has some sort of shipping returns program if this happens because it does seem like international sales are common, etc.
