Well, since this is a new diamond, BGD and I are still waiting on the AGS report and other images, but since I''ve got it on hold, I figured I''d share what I know, get some initial opinions, and then add the reports and ASET/IS as they hopefully come in the next day or 2. Anyway, this is what I know:

Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows
Carat: 1.231
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Cost: $9980

Unfortunately, that''s all I know at the moment, and I have no idea if that''s remotely enough to give an informed opinion, but my gut (and research) tells me that I''m getting a good deal. Does anyone have any initial thoughts? Things that I should especially be on the lookout for when I get the AGS report? Thanks for all your help!

It should be a lovely diamond John, post the images when you get them.

They''re diamonds are just flying off the shelves. LOL. Keep it on hold, should be lovely and if it isn''t for some strange reason, ask them for something else.

Yay! from me.. their diamonds are spectacular!

Brian sure knows how to pick them, so am betting it''s a winner. Please post the images once you get them.

Well, you know where I stand.

Ok, so I got the AGS report back. Here are the full specs:

AGS#: 10408308
Report Type: The Platinum Light Performance Diamond Quality® Document
Shape and Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.88 - 6.91 x 4.24 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Color Grade: AGS 1.0 (F)
Clarity Grade: AGS 4 (VS2)
Carat Weight 1.231
Fluorescence: Negligible
Comments: " 10408308" has been inscribed on the girdle of this diamond.
Light Performance: 0
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Table: 56.1%
Crown Angle: 34.6
Crown Height: 15.2%
Girdle: Faceted, 1.5% to 3.7%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion Depth: 43.0%
Star Length: 56%
Lower Girdle Length: 77%
Total Depth: 61.6%
Culet: Pointed

There''s also some sort of Computer Generated Light Performance Map that I''ve never seen before, but all I know is it doesn''t look anywhere near as uniform and pretty as ASET/IS images. Can someone please explain what this is and if I should be concerned?

As for the specs: I''m really only looking for the answer to 2 questions.

1. Is there anything about them that might be a red flag?
2. Is $9980 a reasonable price to pay for this diamond?

Thanks so much!

The computer generated light performance map is just that, a computer scan of the diamond, the actual ASET image is more relevant than this. These images don't always translate well, nothing to worry about.

The diamond looks great and the price is fine.

Here''s the Sarin Report. Some of the numbers are ever so slightly off of the AGS report, but I''m sure that''s not uncommon.

Variance with Sarin and AGS numbers are common, AGS are the numbers of authority.

Idealscope image. ASET to follow. Thoughts? Thanks!

Looks good.

It looks like a beautiful diamond!

ASET. The next and last picture should be the diamond itself. Is it just me, or is the ASET really bright? What do the experts out there think? Thanks!

Awesome stone. Well over a carat. And, F VS2 is my very favorite combo! Yep, it''s a keeper.

Yes its bright. Really bright red is a GREAT thing. This is a really nice diamond.

That''s great to hear! For some reason I thought the reds in the IS and ASET were supposed to be roughly the same shade of dark red, so I didn''t know if the lighter, brighter shade was some sort of lighting or leakage problem. But this sounds great! I think I''m almost at the point where I can take the plunge and make the biggest purchase of my life to date! Thanks for the help, everyone, and I definitely welcome even more comments!

Hearts image. I have the diamond image too, but it's too big and I don't have photoshop at work.

* kisses fingers* beautiful!

Does anyone know how I can resize the image of the diamond to post it?

At least if you have a PC, all you have to do is bring it into the Paint feature and go to Image --> Stretch/skew. Then reduce the horizontal and vertical percentages by an equal amount; reducing each to 90% tends to work for me.

Thanks! Here''s the diamond! I think I''m ready to pull the trigger.
