Arguing with vendor over purchased Spinel

I’m a bit like you! I never let things get in the way of a good gem. Especially if it’s going to be suitable with a lot of outfits!

I had so many dramas with my spinel project (it was one of those things that was difficult from the start, not the bench’s fault but it was just not a smooth project) and for a while I thought the ring would annoy me but I’m eating my words and wearing it everywhere.

lol Well I'm so glad you persevered, because I positively lurrrve that spinel ring!

Well, it's an odd story. After always denying on PS that he was an active seller, he let slip that he'd sold to me (and threatened to dox my personal info). Knowing that I've only bought from maybe a handful of folks in the US the past few years, it wasn't difficult to narrow down. He told the same personal story here that he did on another forum. He also self-promoted here, which didn't help.
And then he inadvertently confirmed everything over on etsy... where he most definitely has a retail shop. I really have no hard feelings toward him anymore. We're all fellow travelers to the grave, you know? I just wish he'd be honest about his trade status here.

So much fun, yes! It is great fun to have such a big stone seeing as it is not very expensive. I'm still eyeing a floral cut amethyst like I posted on amethyst corner. Oh, please post a picture of yours!

I sold the orangey-pink spinel, but replaced it with a larger, precision cut one from Fred at Missouri River Sapphire. Super nice folks!

I think your cushion is Uruguayan (my fave), correct? I know it's darker in tone than some folks like, but that's what gives it those rich flashes of pink and blue! Here is mine. Is your lozenge Brazilian or African?

post a ‘looking for specific gem’ thread here, and that vendor/shop 70% of the time will put up the maximum allowed listings at a time over on LT with what you are looking for, or close to it, included as one of them.

Could someone be honest about trade status but still not be honest about who they are and get away with it?
After 2020 FB debacle, I bet that’s off the table for him coming here and being a productive member with what was said about ‘us’.
At least DanS had(s) the intestinal fortitude to be upfront with his spite .

1. So sorry about the way the seller treated you. It's unacceptable and unprofessional.
2. That's a gorgeous gem. I am not window-sensitive, but your feelings about it are valid: if you can't learn to love it because it reminds you of a deeply unpleasant experience, move on! But I just want to say, I love the color.

Gorgeous!!!! Believe it or not, mine are both Brazilian! I could tell though from the online pictures that they had more colors than the other Brazilian pieces there. Now I need two more pieces for earrings. I think I would be too hard on an amethyst ring. If someone hits their hand on a car mirror in the parking lot, it is going to be me.

Thank you empliau! It's never too late to express care and concern and I am grateful for yours! I agree about the color--the stone stuck out on the IG page to me because of that color. It is probably my favorite shade of pink and pink is my favorite color. Each day I think I move further away from negative feelings associated with the stone. I like the term "window-sensitive". I will borrow it. Windows make me itchy. haha!

Personally, I think if trade members want to post here, they not only need to have the designation, but they also need to go by name (like Gene, who is totally transparent). This is a consumer forum and there is a certain conflict of interest when you're interacting with vendors anonymously here, and they have all of your personal info over there (including your money). Because it's not difficult for sellers to know exactly who we are here when we buy gems in their shop and then share them on PS. That's how a certain person knew who I was... I never mentioned buying from him on here. So there's a huge disadvantage in the anonymity playing field for buyers on PS. I think the reason it's not policy is because it would be next to impossible for PS to police it.
