I'm new here, but have found PS to be an awesome resource in my search for a ering for my girlfriend (soon to be fiancé?!?, man life is awesome).

I set a budget, did a ton of research, and ended up getting her this 1.311 ct H VS2 ACA from Whiteflash :https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4312090.htm

She wears simply jewelry, so I'm having it set in this skinny 14k white gold band semi-open basket by Danhov (CL130: https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...0-classico-solitaire-engagement-ring-4397.htm

The ring should arrive on 11/13/20, and I plan to propose sometime around New Years.

I'm really excited, but now am second guessing myself, wondering if a 1.3 ct sparkle machine will look too flash on a 30 year old public school teacher? She's an amazing woman and deserves a nice ring, and I didn't exceed my budget on this, but I don't want her to be embarrassed by her ring or have it be anything too flash for every day wear.

Any thoughts? Is 1.3 ct really going to be that much difference from a 1ct? Pictures and any advice would be great.

(Note: The pictures are not of my actual ring, but is the Danhov 130, one with a ~1ct ACA in white gold, and the yellow gold one with a 1.333 ACA)

Thanks!!!Danhov 1.PNGDanhov 2.PNG

It is going to look perfect on her! It is a great size stone, it won't look too big, and it will have a really nice presence on her hand. You chose really well! It's going to be beautiful and she will love it, please come back with pics if you can!

I think it's going to be beautiful. Don't second guess yourself. You can always get a simple silver band from James Avery if she doesn't want to wear her diamond to school everyday. But I think this will be fine. Here's a one carat on a size 5 finger.

Not too big! It’s gorgeous and I’m sure she will love it!

Love that head profile. I think it will look great! That said, I’m a bit worried about the impending ring for my soon to be so I know the feeling.

I think it will be beautiful, and not too flashy. Out of curiosity what is her finger size?

What size is her finger? Do you know what size rings her family and friends wear?

Since you've already purchased maybe you should just enjoy this time and feel reassured by Pricescope. I think at this point, you could make sure you have an open and honest conversation with her after giving the ring and let her know if you're ok with exchanging it for what she really wants?

I appreciate all of the advice, her ring size is 5.25.

The ring and diamond you picked out are absolutely perfect!

She will likely feel the diamond is very large for several weeks or months, but that feeling will dissipate with time as it is neither too large nor too flashy.

Congratulations on your upcoming engagement, do come back and post a couple pictures of the finished ring and a hand shot once it reaches its intended recipient if you are able. ^_^

Not too flashy. Sounds perfect!

I’m around similar size and I have tried on that size diamond.

To me, I think you nailed the perfect balance of an elevated classic. Super gorgeous yet still not too much for settings where you don’t want to stand out as the blingy one. Also, the classic setting is just right for that as well.

Good going!

The setting is beautiful! I can understand your concern. I think the quality and size will garner attention, however I don’t think it will be too flashy. Here on PS it seems like anything under 2-2.5ct is par for the course however for most people over 1ct is substantial. I think it will be a perfect balance of attention grabbing and modest. Congratulations on such a big step in your relationship and I wish you well

This is the exact size stone & finger as I have. Not too big at all (I'm dreaming of an upgrade but that doesn't mean yours is too small!) Hers will pop even more on a the thin band of your setting. Mine gets a little lost in my thick busy setting.

Agreed! Very well put :)

Not too big...it will feel big to her in the beginning because its new and she's not used to it but after a while she wont think so.

Congrats on your upcoming engagement!

No, it will not look too big. You chose a beautiful diamond and it will look perfect on her hand. No worries!

Will be perfect. Don’t stress!

agree, it will be perfect. Especially in that setting which is elegant but simple with no added bling. She should love it! Good job.

It’ll be beautiful! Congratulations.

So pretty! The longer I’m here the more I appreciate a simple yellow gold solitaire. I think the size is perfect, not too big at all. I don’t prefer too big either with my job so I know what you mean but you don’t have to worry!

It’s perfect. Diamonds tend to shrink over the years!!! So I think it’s perfect. She sounds lovely. Congrats!

My brother got a 1.27 for his girlfriend with the same size finger and I think it's perfect. Looks substantial enough without being too flashy.

Im sure she will love it
its definatly not too big
