Hi. I am listing my lovely diamond as I am financially in need of extra money. Beautiful stone. Appraised at $25k. Documentation and paperwork available. Best offer.

Original listing here: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7639/

Was the stone actually purchased? The link you posted shows that the stone is on hold and hasn't been purchased by anyone.

They are inconsistent with marking things as actually "sold" versus "on hold" from time to time.

OP, I do not think you can expect to sell for the appraised price...can you post a range of offers you would be willing to entertain? Also, you will want to create a Diamond Bistro or LoupeTroop listing as you cannot actually perform the transaction here.

Gorgeous AVC by the way ::)

I wondered if that was the case as well. Thanks! :)

Yes. It was purchased and in my possession. I think that's how GOG usually does it onine.

Can anyone advise on using those other websites? This is all new to me (obviously).

TIA!

Post it on loupetroop.com. It is very simple and free to register!

Gorgeous!!! Please post on Loupetroup!

gog can consign it for you and depending on when you bought it due to price increases you might not lose much. they also have a 70% buy back policy too

Edit: I would contact GOG to see about consigning it. you bought it in 2009 and that stone would be a LOT more right now due to price increases. It would probably sell quickly since it's a good color/clarity combo too.

She can avoid the consignment fee if she sells it herself. And the buy back probably isn't worth it since diamonds have gone up. But consigning with GOG is a good idea if you can't sell it yourself after a few weeks.

thanks for all the comments and suggestions so far!

does anyone know if it is consigned at gog, do i have to use it towards a future purchase from them? it only mentions trade-ins on the website....

thanks again. :)

also, can anyone suggest how i should price it? i'd like to get as much as possible as it really is a beautiful stone.

If you consign, they will take a percentage of what it sells for. I cannot tell you exact amounts but they take a lower commission if you spend the full proceeds for another stone there.

As far as pricing goes, you should look at the most similar stones to it, and expect to sell for 20-30% less. Other diamonds less in demand or quality might sell for less than that.

email jonathan at GOG and he'll be honest with you-he'd tell you what he'd list it for and what you'd clear when it's all said and done and what he'd buy it outright for.

You can then post it on here, DB and LT to see if you get any activity and if not-send it off to GOG. Another option is jewelsbyericegrace-you can see what they'd consign it for as well.

They don't have anything really comparable right now but here are two that are "close" to give you an idea of the price increases.

Smaller with one higher in color ~19,500

Slightly larger with one higher color/clarity 32k

I would think your would retain somewhere between the 2-probably low-mid 20's.

I am interested in this diamond, how can I contact you?

Beautiful diamond -- whoever buys it will be lucky, and that comes from a non-diamond-lover! Wish I had the cash.

I'd be interested in purchasing it as well. How can we contact you?

Thanks

Hi! I don't think there is away to post personal
Messages here...

It seems the only way is to post it on the resell sites?

No personal messages here. Do this in order to contact one another, as already stated above:

Doesn't sound like you will have any trouble selling your lovely AVC!

mzzdna: You cannot post info about yourself here either, however, I added you as a friend on a popular social networking site. I'd be happy to discuss it there.

You aren't really supposed to post here without listing the item on another site so people can contact you.

Hi and sorry for the delays. I have been super busy. I don't expect that I can get things together until after tax day! Please look for more info after that time. I apologize for any inconveniences!

Has this sold yet?

Hi. Thanks for your interest. I plan to "officially" list it in mid-April. I will post more information at that time.

Thanks again!

Looks like a beautiful stone, but there is a 1.75ct I VVS1 AVC on the GOG website going for less than your asking price. If you want it to sell, you may need to reconsider the price or take offers. Good luck with the sale!

Hi there. I did see that but there is also a G that is slightly larger priced at a much higher price point. Not sure why there is such a huge discrepancy. I am open to reasonable offers though. Thanks!

I hope you take this the right way but GOG will probably provide customer service that you will and cannot provide . Slightly larger = higher price breaks. Unfortunately, you are not retail but preloved, which means you should safely assume 50-60% or so after paypal/mailing and all return rate. If you seriously want people to provide an offer, I'd stronger suggest considering those factors.

Good luck with your sale! It's really quite a beauty.

+1000
unfortunately you are not going to get what they are going for now, or what you paid for it, reduce the price or go back to GOG and see if they will buy it back ::)

Not that I disagree with you but the AV line is a bit different here. GOG will already buy it back at 75% of what she paid-and I'm sure they have increased in price since then. She can probably get at least 80% of what she has into it-or at least 80% of what it would retail for now.

I sold my 1.31 J SI1 AVC a few years ago after owning it for only a year. I'd lost the paperwork-and I had paid 4800.00 for it. The buyer gave me 4500.00 for the stone. I really wish I had held onto it longer since that price has nearly doubled at this point-but alas it was from a previous relationship and it had to go when I met my husband.

I think if she's not in a rush she will find a buyer. Maybe not for her asking price-but will above the usually 50-60% of what she paid-the AV line is specialty stone that is highly sought after and there usually isn't a ton in each color/clarity/size range.

The H VS1 is a nice color/clarity combo and it's a great size.
