1.77 Tanzanian Mahenge spinel in a trillion setting!

Love everything about it but the prongs which IMHO need to be more delicate.

Thank you ALL for your kind words and the comments on the prongs. I think they're kind of "eating" the stone, so I'll probably have them remade by my jeweler after the holidays. They did a great job on my trillion Loliondo reset with new prongs, so I'll probably do the same thing here.

Here's an upclose, albeit fuzzy photo in incandescent light. Couldn't get too many sunlight shots today, will try tomorrow.

I still have this other Mahenge trillion (from Tan) that I have to set. It's more of a hot pink than a pinkish red, like the one in the setting. It's 1.91 carats. I think I might do a bypass with another trillion, but I just have to find the right color combo.

TL, this is just an expertly done halo! I'm relieved seeing your pics because I'm awaiting a custom made version of this setting too, and seeing how perfect the fit of your trillion is, I've got my faith back.

That first pic with all 3 rings on is just . . . wow. You totally need to do a "whole hand of rings" photo shoot for us!!!! I would bet it's amazing!!!!

Thank you again, all so much. I still don't have any bright sunlight photos, only incandescent and very bad cloudy day shots. These were taken in the car while it was snowing outside. The prongs are actually kind of growing on me, and at least they're protective of the tips. I can't wait to take full bright sunshine shots with full fluor.

I don’t think my chrysoberyl matches your trillion spinel in size. Good try though! Your new setting really sets off the Mahenge very well, plus the little details give it such a customized and elegant look. More pics, please!

Beautiful! Just love the gently curved split shank!!!!

It's not really a surprise. I bought an AIGS certified ruby a little while back, and I finally decided on this setting because of the curving halo, and the really lovely shank. I was thinking of it for my transitional oval I found a while ago, but I've decided to go 100% custom and art-deco inspired (with a bezel - surprise!) on that project.

Thank you all so much. Sorry if I didn't indivdually reply to everyone - been very busy lately. The sun came out for about ten seconds this morning, and one is actually very in focus, which is an amazing feat for me.

Lauren I'm looking forward to seeing your version of this ring.

I have noticed that when PS auto shrinks photos now, they do lose a bit of color saturation. Not sure if anyone else has noticed that too.

Thank you all so much!! The sun came out today full force this morning. The second shot really shows the fluor off well. IRL in that shot, which is difficult to tell in the photo. The stone really glowed, it looked like there was an electric light on in the stone. The diamonds were really sparkling a lot too. These three rings hold my favorite stones from Tan. I think he has some exceptional material.
