10 point pink diamond - How Much?

How much should I expect to spend on a .1 ct(10 point), eyeclean pink diamond? Probably a fancy pink color or fancy intense pink color as it is going into platinum and I want the pink to be noticeable.

In looking for fancy colored diamonds, Is CUT still numero uno? Should I be using the HCA in my search? OR should I concentrate mainly on color than clarity.

Where would be my best bet to find this diamond at the best price?

Are you looking for a nateral pink or a man enhanced pink? Big differance in price.Also if the stone is a natural pink then the depth of color is the most considered factor.A cutter is going to try to save as much as possible from the rough because of the rarity of naturally colored rough material. collectors will consider an I1 if the diamond''s color is rare enough.Collectors are much more forgiving of clarity and cut with fancy colored diamonds than they will ever be with white diamonds.

What is the price difference between a heat treated and natural diamond? I prefer a natural, untreated diamond though.

If the cutter tries to save as much of the rough, Would the dimensions of the diamond differ from a white diamond (for the same carat weight)?

I know the answer probably depends on a case by case, Would the color of the fancy diamond mask the inclusions in an I1 graded, to qualify it as eyeclean?

make sure this diamond comes with a color grade report from GIA.

Is there any suggested dealer that carries natural pink diamonds with a GIA color report?

It seems theres not many dealers that carry fancy colors, let alone a 10 pointer with a GIA report.

Just wanted to mention that for a 10 point fancy pink, it's not common to get a GIA report. It's preferable, but many times dealers don't spend the money to get a report on a diamond this size (however this differs for other colors like green, red, purple, and blue though). Consider buying from someone reputable if it doesn't come with a report. I have seen some fancy intense pinks that are small and come with reports, and they always have a pretty premium on them if they do.

I visited David Kodner once, and he has a stunning collection of ultra rare colored diamonds (although I didn't have the pleasure of seeing them in person, maybe someday

). He would be worth contacting to see what he has available and for prices.

Diamonds By Lauren has been mentioned several times on Pscope and he deals with colored diamonds.

Wink Jones deals with a lot of colored gems so he would be worth contacting to see what he can get.

Icestore deals with a lot of fancy colored diamonds, but I'm not sure if they deal with single smaller stones in this size.

This probably isn't very helpful, but several years ago I purchased 2 fancy pink diamonds similar in size to what you are looking for, for about $1100. No GIA reports, but I felt the dealer was reputable. I would gladly tell you the name if only I could remember it

Give me a heads up that you are going to be in a day or two in advance, and I''ll be happy to get the collection (which continues to grow) out for you to see...o) Although do not come in today, as our air conditioning in the building is broken. You will probably find that in that size, it will not automatically have a GIA report. I do not usually get reports on anything smaller than 15 points, and even then it has to at least have intense color. That does not mean you cannot have it sent for a report before you agree to buy it. You would probably have to pay for the cost of the report (no more than $150.00)if it comes back with a grade of at least what the jeweler said it was. You should expect to pay around 6-7000 pct. for a good fancy pink, and around 10-12000.00 pct in the fancy intense pink, in the size you are looking for. Of course prices jump up exponentially as they get larger. Everyone is correct when saying that color is much more important than the cut, and the clarity for that matter. However, you also want something that is bright. So you want it at least cut well enough to get a nice brilliance. That''s why everyone including myself will tell you to always look at a colored diamond in person, you really cannot tell anything about a colored diamond by a piece of paper or picture.
