Hi All,

So I have a friend who came across this coloured stone. Assuming it's real, can anybody estimate the carat weight of this gem?

The length is 44mm, width is 26mm, and depth is about 10-15mm. It weighs about 366 grams.

How much would something like this be worth?

Thanks all!

There is no way of knowing what you have from your photos. It could be any one of a number of things including glass. Has your friend had any review of the stone by a reputable lab?

If it is glass, it is worth practically nothing. If it is a synthetic, a few dollars. Pricing will depend on knowing what it is. Even assuming it is a natural stone, the possibilities are huge and pricing of one family type varies greatly to another family type. From knowing the family type, there is also treatment to consider, which plays a role in pricing.

I suggest having a gemmologist run some basic testing to narrow the possibilities down (refractive index, check for natural inclusions - this one is suspiciously too clean, specific gravity, pleochroism, fluorescence, etc).

1 gram = 5 carats.

366g x 5 = 1830 ct ( this can not be )

but if you look closely the scale is not in Grams Its in TL
1 tl = 58 ct
3.660 tl = 212.28 ct

This stone is a 212.28 ct Stone
P.s - I have the same scale

Okay, I'll bite -- what is tl?

I have no idea what lt stands for.
I took my scale and did some calculations to get this

IF the measurements are correct and it really weighs about 200 carats then it is likely Cubic Zirconia.
It is true that something that size cannot weigh 366 grams.
