Hey everyone, I ordered a 18k rose gold solitaire from white flash, as recommended on this forum and then I ordered a 18k diamond wedding band from blue Nile on sale. However I just received the wedding band today and comparing it to my white flash engagement ring there is a bit of a color difference in the gold. Is this normal? The white flash band actually looks more yellow gold than the blue Nile one. Should I be concerned as both are supposed to be 18k rose gold? or is this normal?

Different houses will be using different alloys to create their gold colors. I am amazed at the number of different colors of rose gold that I have seen over the years.

We actually use a 19kt gold alloy for our rose gold now, as it casts better and with fewer problems than some of the other alloys that we have tried. (Rose gold can be problematic at times.)

I do not believe you need to be concerned as such, but if you are wanting the two rings to be the same color, you should get them both from the same retailer.

Wink

Yes there is a large difference.
With rose gold there is a large trade off of being brittle and being pink, different companies use different points on that curve.

Many vendors (including WF and BN) are happy to provide exact alloy composition on inquiry ::)
