1ct.+ $4000-$4500 Possible?

Hi everyone,

I don't know if it is me or what but I have not had very much luck lately trying to find a diamond in the size I want within the price range. When I was looking a year or so ago I was able to find at least a few that I was interested in buying but lately I have not been having any luck.

So, I am doing the most obvious thing and asking my fellow PSers for some help in trying to find something--

It is for an engagement ring so I would like something that sparkles GREAT

VS1+ (VS2-SI1 if eyeclean-I'll have to call and ask about it)
H-I (from my reading since I am at the 1ct. level there might not be much a difference between the two)

Here's an Expert Selection 0.90 ct H VS1 with an HCA score of 1.5 for about $4800 from Whiteflash.

For a VS1 over 1ct you will have to drop the colour grade to a J-K, I would suspect. I just ran a cursory search on a couple of websites, and even without looking at cut parameters at all (which would be my #1, #2 and #3 priorities!) it looks as if H SI1 is priced around about ~$4500-4900 for a 1ct stone.

I would suggest dropping your clarity to include anything eyeclean (down to an SI1) and your options will broaden quite a bit without having to drop colour.

Other suggestion would be to look just under a carat as you won't pay for the "magic number".

Thanks everyone. I think I can move down to an SI1 if it is eye clean. I just get a little concerned but I know that you could have a VS2 that isn''t eye clean either. I will see what I can find at this new criteria.
