#JOTW 2.22 ct Fancy Light Marquise in 18k Georgian inspired Colette ring

Thanks!

Still no sun :(
But took some outdoor pics anyways. Brisk overcast day. I'm so delighted by how different the diamond looks under different conditions. This is why I"m a colored stone gal at heart!

Oh my, MTG. STOP IT! She is amaaaaaaazing!!:love::love:

Gorgeous ring. I love the satin finish and the high karat yellow gold, and I'm a huge fan of East-West orientations. The diamond has so much dimension to it as well. A really lovely ring with great presence. Another nice job!

Yes! Dimension! That’s a great word for it.

Beautiful reset! Love the rich yellow gold and the collet setting. :rolleyes2:

Ok, please cave and create a YouTube account! I would be really interested to see how it behaves in different lighting conditions. Those more recent photos are beautiful, the setting you chose and designed really compliments and brings out so many features of that stone that may have otherwise been underappreciated.

Haha I will consider it when I return. I’m taking Theia to go see Mexico. Hopefully more sun there!

OMG how did I miss this debut? It turned out so beautifully, @MakingTheGrade

The color is gorgeous! What is her color? I saw Fancy brownish yellow but is that the actual color name? You picked the perfect color setting for Theia...She also looks huge in the setting! I would love to see a video!

Per the Gia report she is a fancy light brownish yellow. :)
I’ll look into making a YouTube account once I’m stateside ! The internet here in Mexico isn’t super reliable...

Wow wow wow wow wow! I was waiting anxiously to see how this came out! A delicious end to a marathon of 2018 projects! That yellow golden butter and sunshine is everything I thought it would be and love the satin finish. Highlights the diamond sparkle while subduing the enormo bling factor a bit.

Enjoy the Mexican sunshine both on the beach and on your finger! You have definitely done Hazel proud :)

Omg I’m so happy to be in 80 degree weather. I’m from the north east and hate winter. I do a yearly “run to the warm” trip near my birthday. This is probably my favorite so far.

Heh. Someone today asked me if I was married and I said no and pointed out that I wasn’t wearing it on my ring finger. She said “oh, it’s a really big diamond though”. I wasn’t sure what to say to that without sounding snippy so i just went “yup” and left it at that lol.

I guess some folk assume any big diamond must be wedding jewelry. And I tried so hard to make this not look bridal! What’s a gal gotta do. Make it a thumb ring?

No matter what you do or how you have designed it, some people will automatically assume you're engaged or married... Although ha ha maybe a thumb ring is clear enough! My previous ring I wore on my right hand (and here that's meaningless) and people still always assumed I was at least engaged. I would point out it's on the wrong hand, but mine was more engagement ring like so I could vaguely understand. Some people just jumped straight past the assumption into talking about my 'husband'. I love my partner dearly but we're not married. I either just smiled or politely corrected them depending on who they were.

Actually my biggest annoyance about it was that bridal jewellery tends to be bought for you/gifted to you, and I had designed it and bought it myself. Same with my upcoming ring. I always felt slightly miffed someone else was getting the credit for my ring... That's probably a sign I'm a bad person though... My partner is welcome for the credit of course but still. Not sure if anyone else ever feels that way. o_O  :doh:Not sure how to express what I mean without seeming like a jerk.

What I'm trying to say is, try and let it tickle you rather than annoy you. :geek2: You've probably already managed that, you seem like a practical and sensible soul.

I think what irks me is the assumption that women can’t or shouldn’t buy themselves sizeable diamonds. Or even expensive jewelry. So many times people would compliment my jewelery and go “oh you’re so lucky” because they assume my partner bought it for me. Um. No. Luck has nothing to do with it, I earned the money and bought it myself. I’m not sure if it’s because they think it’s shallow/narcissistic to spend that kind of money on yourself or that only women who can’t get a man to buy them that would buy it themselves? They wouldn’t make the assumption or have issue if it were a Chanel purse or designer clothes....

Exactly!!!

What a great way to set this stone! Love it!

I also got a magnasonic jewelery cleaner for my birthday. Now things are super shiny!

Happy birthday!!! For whenever that was. :mrgreen2:

Thanks! I always hated having a January birthday growing up because it meant it was always too cold to do anything fun outside and planning any sort of party was stressful due to unexpected snow storms. These days I treat myself to a few days of warm weather as a birthday gift to myself lol.

Feeling punky today and thought I’d try wearing Theia with a hematite band. I also ordered a 2mm gold domed band for when I want to have a wedding set.

Thanks! I really love the reset. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it and how different it is. My coworker called me “hip” haha.

Here’s the gia report. Meant to post it at the top of the thread but forgot. Oops.

It turned out really nice MTG! I love how your custom items are always a little different but not far out there weird. (that was a compliment
in case it wasnt obvious) :geek2:

I love that you found making a .gif easier than a YouTube video.

Looks pretty awesome! What a lovely collection of birthday presents you had this year, the sun, the diamond ring! Lovely!

Could you post more pictures of that hematite ring? That looks great with Theia! Goes really well!

Sure. Here are more pics. I got it for 3$ at a craft fair. I think it stacks well cause it’s also somewhat tall.
