How much would I be expecting to pay for a H&A RB that is 2 ct and slightly over 2.1 - 2.2? Just the stone of course.
I am looking for colorless (F,G) and willing to go to eye clean SI1 or VS1.
I can't tell if a stone is H&A by just looking at them on the online vendors?!
Also, what role does fluor play on colorless FG vs slightly tinted H & lower stones, if any?
Thanks very much.

I sincerely wish I could keep this info for myself (!), but since that is not my size range, I will share this with you. It is the opportunity to get an outstanding stone at a discount. I think the new retail on the stone would be maybe $38-40k depending on who was selling it. Second hand sales can be 20-30% below retail.

This is being sold by a well known, longtime member here, so I consider a no risk opportunity.

That is a gorgeous ring!! And it's already in a perfect setting! I've been drooling over it

I remember seeing a stone with similar specs to the one for sale listed at about $46k if I remember correctly on BGD a few months ago, so a retail value on a similar superideal stone might be more than $38-40k though there are no real comparatives to be found today.

You’ve provided a huge range. Even if you include GIA lab grading as one of your specs (which is a good idea), and you limit your searches to the dealers who advertise here (which is convenient for purposes of this search but may or may not be what you’re looking for), the range is from $18600 – $46400 with more than 500 stones to choose from. If we include the possibility of non-GIA labs, you can get as low as $10k or so, and if we include high end branded retailers the top goes to about $60k or more. Shopping overseas will make it even higher.

The key as a shopper is to narrow things down a bit. How did you arrive at your specs? Are you shopping online or in a store? What country?

I was gauging $40k retail based on comps like these:

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Round-cut/2.41-carat-G-color-VS2-clarity-Excellent-cut-sku-117949 ($37,570)

It is a little larger but isn't hearts and arrows. So I would probably take back the part about under $40k.

and smaller but more equivalent cut:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8175/ ($31,998, 2.07 cts.)

AGS Ideal cut, 2.32 but G VS1 which really bumps up price at $38,420:

I am trying to help Dem sell the diamond. If it is priced too high, it won't sell because people would rather buy from a vendor with a return policy or upgrade policy, etc. if the price ends up too close to other retail prices.

I want to add that I have a G VS1 stone with fluorescence and I consider it one of the greatest ways to get a discount on a diamond! As long as you have a good clarity stone, the fluoro usually has no negative effects. In fact, I think it makes my stone look whiter than G!

The stones I posted above were all VS, but the other way to save money is to go down to SI1.
