Thanks Jennifer. What a cute dog! It looks kind of like Rosie. Once I was walking Rosie and a woman asked what kind of dog she was. I said that she was a mutt. The woman said, "Oh, I couldn't tell if she was a mutt or some rare exquisite breed." Funny.
Interesting! Once I had my dogs (did you see the black one sort of "on top" in the picture? poor Freddy--he always blends into the background because he is so dark!) at an outdoor art festival in the park and three people asked me on that day ALONE what "breed" my dogs were... They are both mutts--wonderful, beautiful, perfect mutts.
I'm pretty PC about most stuff and one of the better aspects of my character is the ability to see other points of view and be considerate of them (it's even been noted on my reviews at work as a stength) BUT (you knew there was a big BUT here, didn't you?
) I have a real issue with the "breed snobs" as I call them. Both of my dogs came from rescue/shelter, as did my dog growing up and my mom's dog... and you couldn't find better dogs. I know intellectually breeds must survive and there is a place for it, but you just can't touch the Freddy's, Elmo's (the white one), and the Rosie's of the world... There are SO MANY poor, loving animals in the shelters (if you are looking for one, go to www.petfinder.org, a national registry of shelters with descriptions and pictures for shelter animals allover the USA)...why pay $500, $800, even over $1,000 for a "pure bred"? hell, if you want one, there is a rescue group for almost every breed out there...
Sorry-I know this is supposed to be a forum about diamonds.
Jennifer, I missed the black dog! Our monitor is very dark and Santa didn't bring a new one.
I "shop" at Petfinder all the time. I want to adopt them all! And yeah, I also shop by breed where they show you ones that have been rescued. We think Rosie is part Westie so I'm always looking at those b/c they remind me of her.
I thought I''d drag up this old post since Christy said we should post our before and after shots.
Since I started this thread 15 months ago, I''ve acquired this 3 stone ring for our 25th anniversary:
And I got rid of this ring:
I had the diamonds from the ring above put into this setting:
I sold this ring to my friend Connie:
I used some of the money from that to have a new head put on my wedding ring that was lower and 4 pronged and included two surprise stones bezel set:
After getting the bezels adjusted so that they didn''t stick out so far, I got a new SuperbCert diamond to fit into my wedding ring head. It''s .95c, I color, I-1 clarity. It looked like this in the wedding ring:
I took my old .93, J I-1 deep cut stone and had it put into this pendant:
So I then (and still now) owned just these three rings:
But I made one more change. I didn''t like how the bezel-set surprise stones took away from the center diamond on my wedding ring, so I went back to a regular head. I went with 6 prongs again instead of 4 and with the medium Stuller Solstice height instead of the low. So I''m kind of back to where I started with my wedding ring except for a new diamond and prettier head:
So, that''s it for my projects over the last year and 3 months. See what Pricescope has done to me? It''s crazy!
I really liked seeing all your different looks over the years. I also liked the diamond bands on either side of your thin e-ring.
I got antsy after 9 years of marriage... for a new ring, that is. I still wonder why I''m not sentimental about my e-ring ( I mean, keeping the diamond that James proposed with). My wedding band seems to mean much more. I don''t think I''ll ever not wear it-- it matches DH''s ring and I love that. It also (size 3.5) fits perfectly inside his ring (size 10.5) which I love as well.
Patty, your hands have looked great for 25 years, BTW! Such nice fingers and nails.
Yes, Ps is so dangerous. I''d planned on putting away my first e-ring for my son(who will be 2yrs. in July), but I''m totally craving stud earrings. I''m thinking maybe I can borrow the diamond until he''s old enough to propose. Hey, then I''ll have one rb for each kid to have. yep, I''m trying reeeally hard to rationalize this project. LOL! Of course the fiancee will want something entirely different.
''e-ring'' ''earring''..it even sounds similar. it''s kismet.
bluedawg, you have tiny fingers! It''s cute that your wedding ring fits inside your hubby''s. I still have my 7mm wedding band and I would never part with it. It''s too tight for me to wear now, though, so it''s in the safe deposit box. Thank you for the compliment on my hands. Sometimes I like them and a lot of the time I hate them,
. They look fine in some light and totally wrinkled in other light.
kaylagee, I love the idea about the earrings. I mean, it seems a shame to have a diamond sit around unworn for 20 years or so! And yes, the e-ring and earring thing means it was meant to be!
