Yes, sapphire pricing is complex - colour, inclusions, cut, origin etc. With regards to these lighter milky sapphires you spoke about, I was of the opinion that it was the lower saturation / light colour which resulted in lower prices. In these cases, some (or should I say right amount of ) silk can be a good thing because it makes the stone "(???)glow" and adds warmth to the colour.
Yes, the lighter ones—and also the overly dark ones. A stone that is dark royal blue and is also silky, I do not think is desirable. Whereas a dark royal blue which is well cut and sparkles will be attractive.
I think the reason why I mentioned that price range is because I felt that OP’s dark blue sapphire should be priced in this range as well. It should not be more than $1000? I have/had similar dark blue “mall quality” sapphires at 1 ct that I think are worth about $200. As some others have said, there is a price that some would be happy to pay to rock that stone, but the issue is both the price and lack of returns.
