I finally got some pictures of a few of the finished rings from my NYC shopping spree last December. I had the stones and found mountings in the NYC diamond district for four of my favorite stones, so I was thrilled. I had them set in NY, but their "prong guy" wasn't in, so I brought them back home and finally found a local jeweler that was recommended to me to finish/rhodium the prongs.

I bought this Sapphire from Gary Braun (Finewater) last fall. I just looooove the color. The stone is unheated (AGL certed) and I was looking for a sapphire in this color range because I already had a darker blue sapphire. So without further ado:

3.71ct unheated sapphire from Sri Lanka (Gary brought it back with him from his trip last year). The stone is 9.53 x 8.13 x 5.76. This is the stone that I mentioned (in another thread) that a vendor at Intergem fell in love with.... and once again, please ignore the old lady hands.

Thanks! I'm quite taken with it

Dayum woman!

Beautiful sapphire -- pretty blue color! And unheated! The setting complements the stone -- the oval stone with the twisty band, yum!

Beautiful ring, I love the color of the sapphire.

Absolutely gorgeous, colorluvr! Sounds like a fun shopping trip.

Thank you Athenaworth, TL and Lula.

Anythingorange, yes, it was lots of fun! I would love to go back again :naughty:

Thanks MZ, I just hope it keeps people from looking at my hands ;(

Are you kidding, Colorluvr? Your hands are super for rings! And that ring is glorious! The sapphire's a wonderful color & the setting shows it off perfectly. Great job all around!

Very nice!

Colorluvr: Gary brought back a few from his last trip - is this the one that had an inclusion cut out on the pavilion, or was this the lighter shade, almost baby blue, sapphire? if it is the latter, I am so impressed. It really looks saturated in that setting!

Well done :appl:

What hands? :cheeky: Gorgeous setting and that medium blue stands out.

Love your sapphire and how it is set!!

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate the compliments.

This is one of the ones from that batch. The one with the inclusion cut out was the darker one.

First I bought the bright violet pink one the minute I saw it because I had been looking for a sapphire that color with a reliable cert for a long time. (pictures tomorrow - lol). This is the lighter one, but Gary's photo was pretty lousy and he called it sky blue or something, so I initially passed on it. Then we emailed back and forth and he told me that it was darker than his photo and more of a medium blue. He had a photo of the AGL cert on his site and I asked him if it was more the color on the cert (which was the color it shows in the ring) and he said yes, so after a bit of negotiations 8-) we came to an agreement and I bought it. I was soooo pleased when I got it. Setting it really did bring out the color. I think I have one more photo that shows it in the sunlight and it still holds it's color pretty well.

Well, I do have to say that apparently my hands are the RIGHT size anyway. I wear a 6 on my left hand and a 6.5 on my right and usually buy my rings in a size 6.5. That seems to be the most common size for semi-mounts and rings because they usually fit me without sizing which is a big plus.

HI:

Lovely ring!

cheers--Sharon

From one "old lady hands" to another....Wowser! Love the size, love the color, love the setting.

Thanks canuk_gal and Jeweljunke!

I love the color of this stone and the setting is just beautiful! You have a really impressive collection

That's really lovely.
Congratulations. :cheeky:

Gorgeous!!! Such an impressive ring and it looks lovely on your hand. :)

Gorgeous ring!!! :appl:

The colour is perfect on you - and the white halo and WG setting is awesome - really pulls out that sky blue/medium blue colour and makes it so vibrant! Its beautiful!

and the prongs.... ah... the prongs... :appl:

Wow- its amazing!!

Once again, I do want to thank you all for the very nice comments, and I'm not just saying that to be polite. I have this forum and a few PSers (you know who you are) who have helped me to refine my tastes and decide what is most important to me, and specific to this ring, helped me find this setting (and a few others).

Unlike many who have a specific style they like, I like having a variety of ring styles with a variety of gemstone cuts and colors. I guess I'm a "variety is the spice of life person" :naughty:

OMG I can't believe I've missed this thread! All I can say is W  W and that I have serious sapphire envy. That is THE colour that I covet. I don't just love it I adore it! It's stunning!
