I just got this the other day and really like it. It's 3 amethyst cabochons haloed by small omc diamonds set in 18k yellow gold. It's a size 5 so it only fits on my pinky currently. A number of prongs around the amethysts need to be fixed as they're either missing or just not doing their job.

The amethysts aren't quite as deep a purple as this pictures makes them out to be.

Showing off some of the fire this ring throws around.

This is probably the best representation of color of the amethysts. They could use a bit of a polish as well.

I wasn't quite sure when I saw just the ring pics but when I saw it on your hand, oh yeah I like! It's very pretty and I love the YG with the amethysts.

I agree completely! Love yellow gold and purple. Mmmm. I always look forward to your new bling and you never disappoint. :))

By itself, I wasn't crazy about it, but on your hand it's dynamite. When you get it re-sized, it will be smashing on another finger. Love the gold w/the amethysts!

Very nice!

I love your ring, and I have a soft spot for amethyst cabochons.

That is just so elegant! what a great ring- I love the cabochon's - you don't often see amethysts like that.... Very nice, Kismet!!!

That ring is an attention grabber with the design and style. Looks fabulous on you too!

Me too, me too! Beautiful!

It's really pretty! I'm a purple person and love cabs. Looks great with the diamonds and yellow gold. Where did you get it?

Thank you all. It is prettier than my pictures make it out to be. Since it is such a spready ring, I'll probably get it sized for my middle finger.

IK: It was an ebay purchase. I got it from here http://stores.ebay.com/My-Cat-Allie-Jewelry?_rdc=1

I LOVE this ring! I have to say, the amethysts have a lot of red in them (at least in the pics). These could be Siberian, no? Either way, the ring is super pretty and makes a great statement.

MAN that ring is a beauty!

How is the halo around the cabochons? Like... is the sparkle contrasting with the smooth a cool effect? I really love cabs and have been thinking of buying a really nice one to halo at some point in the future, but have only seen one real life example (an Andrew Sarosi ring, unsurprisingly) and it was moonstone so that's kinda different.

It looks marvelous on your hand!! The cut contrast and the colors of the amethyst with the yg look great.

Thanks sphenequeen! I suppose they could be Siberian. The seller said it was from the Victorian era. I have my doubts about that even though the diamonds do look like they're old cuts and the setting has a fair bit of wear.

Thanks distracts! The halo does contrast quite a bit with the amethysts. I think having the diamonds set in yellow gold make it contrast more than if it was in white gold. It draws the eye more; maybe because with the yellow gold I can see that the halo is made of up individual diamonds whereas with a white metal that effect would be lost or, at least, minimized. I think yennyfire had some IDJ earring jackets made for some cabochon studs she had. Those would probably give you a good idea of the look as well.

Thanks pandabee! I bought this because it was the ugly stepsister of a Cartier ring I was admiring. The Cartier ring had emerald & sapphires in place of the amethysts and was set in platinum or white gold but was otherwise much the same setting as this one. The big difference was the extra zero on the end of the price tag.

I love it on your hand Kismet!! It's a statement piece for sure!
And I have bought from that ebay seller before. Very nice!
