I have had this spinel for a couple of years at least and I LOVE the color, but I never found "THE" setting that was in my budget and I wanted something to set off the unique color. The vendor called it apricot, but as you can see from the photos, it's not really apricot at all and the BGL cert called it "pink" :o but it's not pink either, and even though it may have a bit of pink, it's certainly not what I call pink. The closest color I can think of is "persimmon" but that's not really right either because I think persimmon has a bit more orange... anyway, if anyone has a better suggestion of what to call it, please let me know. I don't see any brown in the stone and it's looks good in most lighting.

It measures 8.93 x 9.53 x 6.28mm so it's not quite square. I've been told that it is a very uncommon color in spinels (it came with a BGL cert stating natural spinel). It was rated as VVS by the vendor and was said to be from Burma. I have a smaller stone that is similar in color, but just a tad darker.

I got the setting in NY last December at the same time I got the setting for the blue sapphire. I don't have the total weight for the diamonds in front of me, but they are a good size and very white and sparkly and I think they really set off the stone. It is set in 18k wg.

The first two photos were taken by Alj (thank you so much) before the prongs were finished, but they turned out so good, I wanted to share them. The rest were taken by me after the prongs were refined and rhodium plated.

You have some beautiful stones in your collection! And have done a super job of setting them. Wonderful ring -- I see a peachy color in that spinel, which I love. Can we look forward to earrings of the other two? Yummm!

Thank you.

LOL, probably not... the one stone has a lot more red than the other one IRL.

Oh that is SO beautiful! I need to stay off of this forum or cut up my credit cards! :errrr:

LOL, thanks Tammy and I totally get that and agree. I admit that a good share of my purchases in the last year or so have been heavily influenced by stones or settings I've seen on here. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Honestly, I've never seen another stone that is exactly this color. The first photo and the next to last (#10) are probably the closest to the color it looks most of the time.

I'm with Tammy, lol. That is a really beautiful colour and a gorgeous setting! Another winner! :appl:

Looks like a dark peachy colour (orange and pink). The setting is scrumpious. Golly, the diamonds are quite big, white and very clean. I can even see a few arrows in one of the pictures.

yummy ... i LOVE the shade of red. lots of "taste" adjectives for the stone ... to my eyes, it looks like the perfect, ripe summer cherry (not one that is brown-y but really red). and i love the contrast of the halo against it. bravo!

gorgeous!! i love this color and have a (much smaller) fat pear spinel close to this color that i still haven't found just the right setting for, in part because i'd been thinking it needed high-carat gold to look good but you've proven that theory wrong! this looks amazing!

Gorgeous Colorluvr! That is a "sunset" peachy pink on my screen - totally gorgeous!! And ... LOVE THE PRONGS!!!

what NYC company did the setting come from - its amazing! Very beautiful on your hand :appl:

Stunning!! Quite the perfect combination!

Exactly!

Thank you Chrono.. yes the diamonds are a great size and very white and sparkly, they really just make the stone sing.

Thank you NKOTB, slksapphire, enbcfsobe, Enerchi and athenaworth!

Uppy - thanks, you know I value your opinion and you are largely responsible for me falling down this rabbit hole  .... don't you feel guilty?

It's a dark apricot/red, warmed by the sun with subtle embers glowing inside it.

How about that?

Whatever you choose to call it, I think it's lovely and the setting is beautiful.

I just love the color of your spinel and the setting is gorgeous!

How did I miss this thread?! It's stunning, colorluvr! The stone color is similar to aljdewey's oval that I was just ogling.

Anythingorange, if you are referring to Alj's new beautiful oval red spinel in that GORGEOUS setting, then I can tell you that they are probably not at all the same color IRL. I think her red is similiar in color to mine (same vendor) and if it is, then it's not at all the same. This spinel has a definite dark apricot/peachy color to it and I'm quite certain Alj's spinel is "stop light red"! If she has another one that I haven't seen, I apologize, but I believe her new oval that she just posted is red red.
