Have to admit to admiring this every time I visit my local jeweler. 6.24 ct., I SI2, estate diamond on consignment. It was in a ring holder that was too small for me but I think it would do a good job of covering even my size 8 finger. Photo of it on the jeweler's daughter's size 4 finger.

Libby, could we get more pics please... :cheeky:

Wowee! How much were they asking for it?!

Missy,

I wish! Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone with me and another customer came into the shop and needed attention (it's a mom and pop shop, so generally only the jeweler and his daughter there). Since I'm not a buyer, I couldn't really take up more time. I got one closeup but it's not sharp enough to tell anything from.

mom2boys,

I'm not really sure. I was told that the estate is getting pretty desperate to sell. Was also told that JM would require insurance at $80-90K, but price is probably a fair amount under that. Since I wasn't able to talk to the jeweler, I don't have any idea the exact price, but I suspect that someone could get a good deal. It's been sitting in the case for awhile.

I wouldn't mind having something like that, but I wouldn't be able to wear it. I can certainly admire it, though!

It's so huge that Brian Gavin could recut and I'm sure it would still be over 5 carats.

Good point Rosebloom! Libby, whatcha think? Would 5 carats plus be acceptable to you? I bet it would be TDF on your hands!!

Even if I won the lottery, I don't think I'd buy it. It would NOT fit my lifestyle at all. But it's beautiful!

Probably a little premature to be thinking about a recutm, though, without knowing the specs.

LOL, true. But you know us PSers, we like to plan ahead for every and any possibility!

Dang!!!! What was the price tag for the diamond on consignment? I'm always curious! :halo:

Holy smokes! That's some serious finger coverage with a solitaire! :o

Wow, it's huge, and beautiful!! I am always amazed by these big rocks, they are rare and wonderful things! Thanks for posting the pic Libby, very fun to see this!

Sarahbear,

I don't know the price. It's negotiable. Probably under $80K, maybe a good bit under $80K. I'm hoping to get more info. If I do, I'll post.
