hello- I admittedly know nothing about gemstones and the processes involved with valuing gemstones.. I have a large uncut garnet (believed to be either Almandine or Rhodolite). It was found in Garnet Valley, PA 30+ years ago. This is my first attempt to place value on it. Can anyone provide me a little guidance of how to get something like this appraised or sold? 20200710_110447.jpg20200710_110506.jpg

It looks like a chunk of glass, not garnet. I would take it to a gemologist who can do tests on refractive index, etc. Then I don't know, contact vendors who specializes in mineral specimens for a buyer.

Thanks, partgypsy! I will do just that. Appre iate the response!

Sure. I used to travel through WV, and there were places near glass factorie (some still open, some closed)and you could pick up all sorts of neat pieces of glass slag. Pretty even if not worth much.

I'm thinking glass as well, since there seem to be conchoidal fractures.
