8 CARAT ETERNITY BAND HELP! 3/4 or FULL?

I absolutely love the look of an eternity band and had every intent of getting one myself. However when I tried them on they were not comfortable or practical for me to enjoy daily so I had a 7 stone made with each asscher a little over a half carat. It looks like an eternity from the top but is more comfortable and practical for me. I had two made. I think a 3/4 band would be fabulous.

Thanks stonehunter20! I'm not 100% sure that sweet compliment is for me but if it was thanks! :D

Interesting to hear that many are apprehensive to wear an eternity band everday. My mom has round 40 pointers that she has worn every single day for over 30 years. No damage and never lost a stone.

Half are beautiful too but can spin. The plus is they can be resized but you can always remake a full ring if you wanted to.

Can you get a handshot of your mom's ring and share with us? :)

Absolutely!

My emerald eternity is only 5 carats but I am petite and I could carry 8 carats no problem :)

Hi!
Sorry if I'm late to this game.. I just saw this thread now.
I actually have just the ring you are thinking of getting.
It's size 4.25 and each stone is .80 for a total of around 11 carats. 14 stones I think.
Yes.. it's a bit thick between the fingers and yes I have to be super careful with it but the pleasure of wearing it outweighs any pesky negatives.
Hope that helps make a decision. =)2IMG_3100.JPGIMG_3101.JPG

Your ring is GGOORRGEOUS! Just lovely! Thank you so much for sharing.
We took a bit of a pause with getting the ring done cause of all that was happening during the last 6 months, but finally picking it back up. I decided to go with 50 pointers and size 4.25. I got the replicas which helped, however, the sizing was too big (4.5&5) and the cut isn't fully accurate. Photos attached of the replicas. Smaller one is around 50 pointers each and setting is way too high so looks bulky. They're also more squares than EC rectangles, but either way helped me decide on the size!

Hi there,
A post I can finally give real advise on.

I asked for a large weight eternity band for my E-ring after I swooned after Brooke Burns eternity band (you can google it). It was my plan to have it just stand on its own. I have a small 4.5 size finger and wasn't able to find any to try on in my size to get the true feel. Bless my husband, each stone weighed 0.71 ct and the band was approx. 8 ctw. After just a couple months of wear I couldn't do it anymore and called him crying that I hadn't been sleeping because I knew I had to tell him that I wanted to exchange it for something else. He said he wasn't surprised and that it didn't look comfortable. I couldn't close my fingers together, and it constantly rubbed on the neighboring fingers. To top it off it was ridiculously hard to do anything in it. Wash dishes, exercise - regular daily activities.
In exchanging it I forever lost the sentiment of the item I received during that special engagement moment. And I will forever have regrets. Damn you Brooke Burns for leading me astray.

For my third child I asked for a replica, albeit much smaller ring, as a sentiment of that moment. It ended up weighing 3 ctw, and each diamond is 0.18ct (the smallest you can get GIA certs for I am told). It is still not comfortable to wear on a daily basis, and I only wear it to dress up and wear a smaller princess channel diamond band on each side of it. (As photoed), but I do love it. It has a U-prong setting.

My advice would be to get a CZ replica of what you want and wear it for many months. I would never steer someone toward a larger eternity band for daily wear after my own experiences, but Covid is a great time to experience washing your hands a hundred times with rings on, a true test and practicality. I also wouldn't go for a 3/4 as it would still feel the same between the fingers. I would personally put the money into a 3 stone and never look back!

I hope this helps.

+1 - I thought i wanted an eternity as my engagement ring (not 8ctw but maybe 2-3) and found my fingers didn't like them at least not for regular wear. love seeing them on other people though =)

I totally agree with you! I wanted a full eternity ring so much. Now I hardly wear it because it isn't comfortable...

Lots of good advice already. Only here to offer my two cents. I looooooove my full eternity even though I thought they were silly once upon a time...

Mine is only 1.68tcw MRBs in a vintage shared prong setting that protects the stones well. It feels comfortable on my size 5 finger. I could/would only go bigger with an EC eternity as the weight is spread in the height of the ring too. I think the chunky big eternity rings look amazing but if I ever got one, it wouldn't be an every day ring at all.
