As some of you know, I just bought a .81 ct H SI1 WF ACA stone. It's beautiful and was about $2,800 which is great for a WF ACA.

But I know the "magic" number is 1 ct. I found this stone today, it is a WF EX cut. WF EX 1.01 ct G SI1 for $5,500.

1. The idealscope for the 1 ct is comparable to the idealscope for the .81 stone.
2. Is there really anything magical for a woman about 1ct?
3. Do you think I'd notice the difference in sparkle between the ACA and EX
4. Is .20 worth about $3,000?

I will post both idealscopes. 1st is for the .81 ACA

1)IS looks comparable.
2)1ct mark nothing magical, probably just an easy threshold to state?
3)Probably no difference, but can''t really tell from image only if you compare them side by side.
4)Is it worth it, depends on you, only you can make the call. 3k for a diameter increase of 0.4mm, area increase of 15%.

I would ask them if the SI1 is eyeclean.

The question is "is it worth $3000 to increase ring coverage size from 37% to 39%" because that is the reality what 3K buys you....besides hitting the "magical" one carat mark........I went with .91 and saved $1200 and then used that to upgrade the shank and head.......good luck

There is a noticeable size difference between a .8 and a 1.0. Whether that is worth 3k or not is another question, but I think often size is important to many women. I would personally try to check out some H/SI stones or maybe go into even the I/SI2 range, so that you don''t quite have to spend 3k. I have went from a .74 F/VVS to a 1.11 H/SI2 and have never regretted it for a moment!!

I''d go for at least .90. Brian Gavin has some .90''s at a pretty good price point.. .92 G SI1 for $4500 or a .90 H SI1 for around $4000. That will save you some money if you don''t want to go over $5000 but will increase the visual size some over the stone you have now. (I don''t see any G-H VS2/SI''s in the .90 range on the WF site.)
