Hello,

I got this a couple of months back from PT. A trilliant pink spinel that weighs 1.8ct, measures 7.67 X 7.69 X 4.88mm. According to his website, it is from Ipango, Tanzania and apparently, Ipango is somewhere in Mahenge so this makes it a Mahenge Spinel!

This is my first trilliant gemstone and I had no idea what to do with it so I sent it to my regular jeweler for ideas. They had their designer sketched a few designs for me and I chose this 3 petal flower design with pave black and white diamonds and split shank. It is quite a fun ring and I think it brings out the colour of the spinel really well. The second and third pictures are taken with my digicam and the rest are taken with my iphone while I was at lunch today.

Here are the pictures, enjoy!

looove this! a trillium flower ring to go with your trilliant cut spinel! did you know the flower you chose was a trillium flower when in the design phase?

I LOVE it! What a fun and unique design that really accents the stone and brings attention to it. Just lovely! :appl:

Hi Candice,

Thank you! I wasn't aware of the trillium flower and have never seen one. When I told Peter what I was going to do with it, he said he was glad I chose this design because he had cut the spinel with the trillium flower in mind! I am going to google 'Trillium Flower' now to see how it looks like!

Here it is..

I LOVE that setting. It totally looks like a trillium flower. Trilliants are puzzling to set, would you be offended if I stole your idea?

There is a town in Tanzania called Ipanga near the Serengeti in the northwest...I'm not aware of an Ipango. Mahenge is in the south central. Beautiful stone wherever it comes from!

Thanks K9, Thanks Kelpie!

No, I wouldn't mind at all Kelpie, if you used the same idea! It makes a really fun ring. I thought I got the spelling wrong, according to PT, Ipango is the name of a village in Mahenge.

That is one of the coolest rings that I've seen in a while! I  it!!

Wow, what a dramatic and blingy ring. I love it!!

OMG, that ring is really gorgeous! I love it!

What a lovely and unusual ring! There are trilliums that have that same color throat. As I recall, it's the Minnesota state flower, so if you ever wear it there, everyone will recognize your ring's inspiration immediately!

Oh how neat! What a fun ring.

Thats such a fun ring! Love it!! :appl:

Brilliant ring, I adore it!

simplysplendid, I love your ring! the colour of the pink, and the border of the ring are so pretty!, the only reason I knew of the trillium flower is because they grow all over around my cottage, they're everywhere during spring in Ontario...and it's our national flower :read: LOL

Gorgeous, and a very unique setting too!

Thanks everyone, for your kind words and compliments!

Ohhhh, it is such a GORGEOUS STONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had actually emailed Peter about the stone, but in the end
decided on another !
I am glad you got it, because now I can visit it in many more pictures!
I love how it has that purple-pink spark !!!!!!!!!! :cheeky:  :cheeky:
What a beauty!
The ring is fun, too ! I would have never thought of that design!

A very unique design and unusual colour scheme – it stands out very well as a cocktail ring, more so with a trilliant.

What a fun unique ring and a gorgeous shade of pink! Very cool.

Sooooo cute!!! I really adore this ring. It showcases your stone perfectly.

Thank you everyone! ooo-shiney, it is a very pretty stone, Peter cuts some really cool gems and my jeweler is quite good at what they do so I am really pleased at the final product. I am now looking forward to the asscher grossular!
