A Heart Shaped Stone Thread

Ok, going to use this thread to ask opinions. What a coincidence, the day I received this spinel is exactly three months after Valentine's Day.


I fell in love with the vendor pic, so had to see it in person. Seems to show more extinction under sunlight. It looks lively both indoors and outdoors with the sparkles/flashes it throws. Somehow my camera skews orange when snapping pictures of this one under the sun, but although it does look warmer with more orange, the predominant color to my eyes is pink.

It's not easy to see this shape in Mahenge spinel, and it is a nice heart shape, not one you might call wonky or chubby. I was going to ask whether I should keep it at the $1550/ct, 1.55ct price, but the more I talk about it the more I'm leaning that way . So please talk me out of keeping it if you think I shouldn't be keeping it.

It's very pretty, but only you can decide if it makes you smile and therefore was worth the price. I'm sure it will be even more gorgeous once set!

I’ve just bought this little Grandidierite that I plan to put in a pendant. It does have a window so I’m hoping that will close with some clever setting. It’s with the GIA being put through its paces at the moment but hopefully I’ll get it soon!
