The old red thread has been locked https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/red.137180/ so let's continue the show here!

Please share your red stones! Pure reds, pinky reds, purple reds, orange reds...all reds are welcome! :wavey:

I'll kick things off with MakingTheGrade's gorgeous red spinel - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/red-spinel-ring-pics.162795/

And cokitty's Burmese ruby https://www.pricescope.com/blog/jewel-week-burmese-ruby-and-diamond-ring

ooh a red thread, what fun!

Love MTG red spinel and cokitty's Burmese ruby! Beautiful.

Here are some of my reds. Though I don't have photos of most of them here's what I already have pics of right now. The earrings in the 2nd and 3rd photo are difficult to photograph with its true color. They are way more red than my pics depict. The last pair I posted are amethyst and rhodolite and I adore them but this is truly a terrible picture.

Urgh...I have a red problem in addition to the pastel problem...

We like "problems." Now please post.

Interestingly, red seems to be the one color that it is next to impossible for me to capture accurately. At this point, after all the photos I've taken, different setups/lighting/angles I've used, I'm a passable gemstone photographer and can pretty much accurately photograph anything (even my alex - no small feat, that!) with one exception: Red. So my Burmese spinel remains almost totally void of pics. :(sad Here are some attempts I've made, but sometimes I've had to correct colors post production to make it at least a bit more accurate. In hand, window is not present (its overly deep), but does have a fair amount of extinction. In other words, a good recut candidate.

Userangl - I know, it's a RED thread, but do you mind sharing where you got the setting for that round yellow stone, as well as how large the stone is?
I love the setting!

Minous, is that your spinel from Hemi?

No, I don't have one from Hemi - perhaps you are thinking of someone else?

Hi I don't mind at all, both the setting for my red spinel and the yellow diamond setting is from the same vendor Mydiamondzone on ebay, it will fit stone round 4.7-5.1mm but 5mm is the ideal they say, though my diamond was 4.9mm. I love they have beautiful settings for great prices and they have a store in Chicago. The setting costs only $219 :)

I'll chime in, I have only one red stone but I love her with all my heart. 1.2 ct untreated Mozambique ruby. It's far from pigeon blood and has a bit of pink to it, also there are inclusions visible to the naked eye but it's my pride and joy.

My cherry opal… currently being set in a ring. :naughty: Please excuse the smudge

My 1.10ct pigeon blood Thai (siam) ruby. It's bloody vivid red but no idea why it's not that red in the pics. Still sitting quietly in the safe. Don't know what to do with it yet ;)

userang: your stone and ring are the best example of buying the best you can afford even if little. Your stone packs amazing punch - I'm sure people can see the color and your ring from across the room!

All red threads are good threads, so I welcome this new one. However, unless a moderator locked a thread for cause, one can always ask her to have it re-opened. A thread may be closed simply because it has not been used in a long time.

Having said that, I am not advocating that the thread above be re-opened. I simply wanted everyone to be clear that re-opening the old thread was a choice!
