A new RED thread!

Forgot to say: Missy, I love your earrings!

I do, too. I think missy's may be my favorite on Pricescope, although these pears are my favorite if we include all the earrings in the whole world. Properly speaking, these don't belong on Colored Stones!

Here is my ‘Burmese‘ ruby ring. It looks different in every room but is prettiest to me outside or in bright light like my avatar picture

Beautiful ruby livannie!

All red threads are good threads, so I welcome this new one. However, unless a moderator locked a thread for cause, one can always ask her to have it re-opened. A thread may be closed simply because it has not been used in a long time.

Having said that, I am not advocating that the thread above be re-opened. I simply wanted everyone to be clear that re-opening the old thread was a choice!

Thanks for the suggestion Deb! It didn't cross my mind to contact the moderators! Oh well, now we have two

I am very glad to have this new, and very accessible, thread on red stones here, ricezo. Thank you for taking the initiative to start it. I only made my comment for people who were new to Pricescope so that they would know all the options open to them. A piece of consumer education. I am quite glad that you chose the option of a fresh, new thread!

Hugs,
Deb :wavey:

That is so stunning, Acinom. Congrats with your new ring!! Delicious one!!

My .63 ct carat unheated Burmese ruby from John Dyer. Setting is platinum and designed by local jeweller.

Lovely color and looks great on you.

My trio of reds. The largest of the rubies is 1.06 carats (unheated as per AGL brief, origin unknown). The small ruby is from a ring that belonged to my mother. All three were custom designed. The photo was taken with my new BlackBerry Classic. Sorry it's blurry - have to work on my photography skills (lol). The colour is quite accurate though - both skintone and rubies.

minouxbijoux & Diamondgirl25 - Thanks for the compliment. The ruby is small but packs a lot of punch. I have short fingers so smaller stones actually suit my hand quite well.

Poodles, what an amazing red collection. Love it!

Little Rubies (I lost my larger one :wall: )

Here is my glamour shot of my ruby ring.

It's a .90 carat Burmese heated ruby from Gemfix in a diamond setting from Brian Gavin Diamonds.

One more pic in the sun complete with tons of fuzz and a huge fingerprint on lower left. Sorry.

Wow, Matata, all this time and I didn't know you had this?!! Shocking. A huge RED stone in a worthy setting. So now for the embarrassing question - how long ago was it made? I've been around the PS block a few times and I can't believe I've never seen your ER!

Here are mine.

A red rhodolite garnet oval and a pink Mahenge spinel cab.

The original setting was locally made and the stone popped out after about 5 years. You can see here near the bottom of the page https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-forum-engagement-ring-folder-eye-candy.5429/page-23
At that point, I was tired of having everything platinum and went for the gold. It's been in this setting by BGD for about 6 years. I posted it in show me the bling but it isn't the type of setting that is popular here so the thread didn't stay at the top of the reader board for long.

Matata, it's always good to see your ring, and the nice, heavy setting.

Matata, I love your ring! Thanks for sharing it again for us newbies. I get kind of tired of all the skinny platinum bands with monster rocks around here. It is nice to see something different (and I happen to love yellow gold with red stones.)

Matata,

That ring is exactly my style, and I like it VERY much. I wish there were more examples of rings like yours.

So like, you know we don't care about fuzz or fingerprints  That thing is HYOOOGE! its gorgeous! Deets on setting? I love it!

I will post my measly entrants. :boohoo:

First up is a vietmanese Spinel. The color tends to be more strawberry red than super stoplight red. I like strawberries so its good to me :lickout:

Y'all have seen this one, a spinel from Tanzania:

As much as I like the color red, I don't have much of it in the way of stones!

My only unset red stone is a ruby cab.

The setting is 18k, the diamonds on the inner band are set in platinum. There are 2 cts of diamonds including the surprise diamonds on the top and bottom of the setting. Square shank.

I wanted something low profile, smooth, and comfortable to wear. Sent a bunch of pics to Brian showing him elements I liked on different rings; he sent me some sketches and away we went.

Oh how fun- the red thread! :)

Here is a quick Iphone pic I took of my red/pink rings today. Reds can be so hard to photograph. All spinels except for the large bi-colour tourmaline on my pointer finger.

I’ ll add in the 2 red rings which I have, (aside from red coral). I’ve always been a blue person, but I fell in love with this star ruby ( partially because I love stars) and this red spinel ring. Now I have a new appreciation for reds to say the least. Love everyone’s collections!
