A place/cutter for custom intaglios?

What an exciting project! I really look forward to seeing your engraved stone.

I can't wait to see the end result. I love your design - what inspired it?

Hello! I have updates!

To answer questions about the design: A while back I saw an auction on Bonham’s for an antique intaglio ring of a bacchanalian scene that I rather fell in love with.

I wanted to adapt it to the mythological characters of Achilles and Patroclus.Or simply put, just two Greek dudes stretching after having some wine. With just the right amount of being artistically risqué :)

The completed piece in chrysoprase!

And another in progress shot before more detail was added, and showing the stone going bluer in some lights.

I’m beyond pleased. And have started looking at old Roman intaglio rings for setting inspiration, with rough hewn bands and bezels but with maybe some granulation on the sides to reference the wine grapes in the design.

The stone is on its way to me now, and I’m terribly excited. Thanks again for the folks here for recommending the artist!

Thanks for the update - was wondering!
Can’t wait to see more.

Oh wow this is beautiful I’m so excited to see the finished result!

Oh this is breathtaking - I too am waiting with bated breath!

That is totally cool! And a unique substrate that's beautiful in it own right! That is really well executed!

Beautiful! Can’t wait to see the stone - I loved your inspiration settings, too. I think grape clusters that are clearly defined would be wonderful and would carry the motif forward - but that’s just my opinion. Fantastic work. Thanks for dusting off the thread!

got any playdoh, silly putty or gumption to make salt dough?

its gorgeous!

...you know, I hadn’t even thought of that.

Time to get some dough :P

This artist is amazing! She is a master. I was drooling all over her IG page.
I love your idea and it turned out so well.
I'm looking forward to seeing the final ring!

Thank you for sharing this journey! These have eluded my radar prior to this, and I had no idea what I've been missing. I am now contemplating a project for hubby...

Hoooow am I just seeing this now?!
That is the coolest thing I've seen in a long, long, time.
Her ability and detail work is absolutely superb.
Can't wait to see it set and the impressions.

A delighted update!

Dropped it off at a local jeweler who had a goldsmith whose style I really loved.

After a little agonizing over proportions...finally agreed, and had it done!

A tall boi, but I think the proportions work and I love love love the texture of the band. Also the yellow gold with the sea green stone is divine.

Thats is so awesome! Love the rough-hewn and hammered look! Could be from the "ancient" part of the Berganza website!
