My Uncle in Iceland died recently leaving us all a small legacy. He had had cerebral palsy and the family money had been used to keep him in a nursing home. It was money well spent as he had been very happy there and lived into his eighties. On the occasion we visited him, we had seen first hand his passion for collecting family photographs and how he’d play chess with anyone who had cared to challenge him. I decided to commemorate my mother’s birth place with a ring to remind me of both the land of “fire and ice” and family members both past and present.
The ring is the Vatche Caroline with pave. Size 4. It’s the first time I’ve ventured out into platinum, I’m loving it. Good Old Gold organised this beauty for me and my thanks go to them and their well run team. I hope they know the rapture their smaller creations can bring to those receiving them.

Wow, gorgeous! It's a very special ring.

 your ring is gorgeous. And very meaningful. Thanks for sharing the background story.
I especially love the ring because it's besutiful from every angle. The 2 rows of pave are so pretty! As well as the diamonds in the gallery.
Enjoy and wear in good health!!

This ring is stunning Polished!! How wonderful to own an AVR, such a beautiful diamond - and I love the double row of pave, I agree with Acinom that this ring is gorgeous from every angle. And the symbolism and sentiment behind the ring makes it so very special. Congrats and enjoy your new beauty!

I love it!! For the beauty of it and for what it means to you! Enjoy!!

Thank you luv2sparkle, Kelli, motownmama, MakingtheGrade, SB621, wakingdreams53, Enerchi, Alex T, Acinom, junebug17, vintagesparkleslover and fashionbabee for your interest and lovely comments. I think the amount of traffic the SMTB gets makes it most worthwhile for people to post their pieces.

Do people go through an adjustment period with their ring? The diamond looked awfully big to me and I thought about turfing it out and turning the ring into the Icelandic Blue Lagoon with an aquamarine:

Then I took the dog for a walk, the sun and was out and I was treated to an array of deep flashes of colours to convince me that perhaps the aurora borealis and deep red of an erupting volcano had won out over a lagoon.

I am most impressed by the workmanship of Vatche - the pave is subtle and the overall look has a dainty, delicate feel to it, more so irl than in pictures. It will be the main ring I wear now as my engagement ring.

Lovely story about your dear uncle :)) Your ring is gorgeous! Perfect setting for your beautiful diamond
I've heard before about the amazing colors thrown by the AVC's, enjoy!

It's truly lovely! :appl:

Love the Vatche Caroline and I really love AVR's!!!   That is a very lovely way to remember your uncle! It is wonderful you were able to visit him in Iceland!

I would just love to see this ring in person - I bet it is breathtaking! What a beautiful tribute to your family.

Thank you woofmama, Smith1942, diamondseeker and Rosebloom.

My uncle was a very positively directed person and I know I felt more at peace when he died that we had managed to visit him.

It also gave us the opportunity to see a lot of Iceland. I loved the drama of the landscape with its waterfalls, geysirs and glaciers. There's also drama in an AVR with its broad flashes of colour under spot lighting. I'm loving it.
