Here''s the link-it wouldn''t work in my other post for some reason. link

More about ''civil unrest'' and how very helpful and effective it is.

It just won''t end ''nicely'', will it? As I said in my original post, the U.S. needs to be very careful about allowing protests -- no matter the purpose or intent -- to get out of hand. Because it''s a bitch to put that genie back in the bottle.

Holly, you never cease to amaze me.

"Allowing protests?!" Do you want to live in America or in a totalitarian state? In America we have the right to peaceably assemble-it''s right there in the First Amendment. So yeah, the U.S. is going to continue to "allow" protests...because it''s our right.

"Allowing protests to get out of hand." Not "not allowing protests". There is a vast difference. It is the difference between 'civil' unrest and violence. You can't really believe I'm not for peaceful assembly. C'mon. Are you really that black and white?

this thread has gone from apples to oranges.

the original posting was about a particular peaceful sit in here in the US due to the failure of an employer to pay $ owed

the new link is about rioting in Greece after police killed a teenager which appears to have unleashed a lot of anger and bitterness re poverty and hopelessness in that country. the 2nd was never a protest but a riot and was violent from the beginning.

this country was founded on protest [not so peaceful from everything i''ve read] which the brits couldn''t control: yes, the genie cannot be put back into the bottle and thank goodness for that!

movie zombie

Hahaha sorry Holly-I managed to miss the part of your post after the dashes! I was too blown away by the first part to read carefully-totally my fault!

I agree with movie zombie-the protests in the U.S. compared to the protests in Greece, riots in France, etc. are two very different things, and sometimes I think protests do need to get out of hand to garner attention.
