I recieved this Tiffany necklace from my boyfriend.
It is PLAT with diamonds in the middle.

I generally don''t wear the heart kind of jewelry (not that there is anything wrong with it, it''s just not my style).

I am curious to get opinions if it looks too child-like? What do you think about it?
I feel if it does it will spend most of the time in my jewelry box.

I am not going to tell him I don''t like it since it was such a lovely gift and he did''t have to, it was just out of the blue no special occasion just because... He said he thought I would like it because it wasn''t like the typical heart necklace he says it felt modern to him he felt it looked abstract and he thought I would like it.

My daily/everyday jewelry is the Gucci ICON jewelry. It''s a very strong modern line of jewelry which is the style I prefer.

Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my Gucci ICON necklace that I wear everyday. So the Tiffany is kind of a departure.

I don''t think it looks child-like at all. I''m also not a heart jewelry person but I am partial to pretty much anything T&Co. I have a platinum bezel set necklace that I got years ago that I wear everyday. If it were one heart and placed the typical way (point towards the bottom) it wouldn''t be as ineresting looking, in my opinion. I really like it!

I think it is really pretty! And no, I don''t see it as child-like at all. If it was a traditional heart, I might say so, but I really think it is a lovely design! What a very nice gift!

It''s hearts and infinity! (math major)

can''t go wrong with infinity, IMO.

Lol at Julie!!!

I think it''s lovely. And I''m SO NOT A HEART GIRL either!! But I''d wear that one!!! (Because it''s not like, BAM! In your face heart. More subtle heart.)

I''m not making sense anymore so I quit.

Are you kidding me? It''s gorgeous and not child like at all. I happen to own a few Tiffany heart necklaces and I dont feel any of them are child like. In fact, the thought never even crossed my mind.

I wouldn''t complain if I were you. And he gave it to you for no special reason...........geeze lucky...

I saw infinity before I saw the hearts, strangely enough. I think it''s very special...in fact I like that it doesn''t have a logo on it, you know? I think it is a lovely gift!

Thanks to everyone for your lovely responses. I do feel pretty lucky with him with or without the nice sparklies

Julie...I love the infinity idea...I never thought of it that way before!!! Your Math major came in handy for me today.

The more I look at it, the more I do like it and I love the fact that he was thinking about me and wanted to get me something special...special is good

There are two ways to look at this in my opinion...the pendant is really pretty...(and i dislike heart shaped jewelry except for the tiffany floating heart on 30 inch chain because the design is modern and sleek)...anyway...wear the gift because he gave it to you and wear it ofter or you can explain to him that you love the gift but would really like a piece to match the pendant you wear everyday...as a man,i would hate to spend a ton of money on a gift and find out that it will sit in the jewelry box...Good luck...these situations can take a delicate touch so feelings dont get hurt!

When I first saw the photo I thought it looked like a bow-tie, infinity and an x. It doesn''t look like hearts to me.

I also don''t think it''s child-like. Although it might not become your everyday necklace I think it''s pretty enough to keep and wear occasionally. Your boyfriend put some thought into it and that''s more important than your taste right now. I think the Tiffany piece is more classic than the heavy Gucci piece. You might appreciate it more someday.

I like it very much - lucky girl!

It is a bit more delicate than your daily wear, but it can have a lot of applications. I could see this becoming a necklace you wear for important events, or if your outfits require something less dramatic.

There you go!

1.) I was always wondering too if heart motifs are childish or tacky (there was a heart-ring I was always thinking about getting it or not) - and last week I said: who cares what people think - and bought the ring! NO, HEARTS ARE NOT CHILDISH!

2.) It doesn''t look that much like a simple heart because it''s the infinity symbol combined with a heart
3.) It is soooo romantic to get a gift that symbolyzes endless love! I wish I would get that necklace

4.) It''s simply beautiful! Modern & classy!

HI:

Of course I love that Gucci pendant, very modern--that is my "style" too. TheTiffany is a much more "feminine" piece, softer lines. I think it is lovely and I especially like the E/W orientation. Now you have two lovely necklaces for different occasions!

cheers--Sharon

For a guy picking out a gift on his own, he did really well! It looks like he really thought about what you like. "She wears white metal and diamonds...she likes luxury brands..."

I don''t think it''s child-like. I think it''s graceful and feminine and different, and romantic without being "frilly." I''d wear it once in a while, and I''d tell him that you wear it when you feel romantic.

I''ve seen lots of people wearing this necklace, and knockoffs of it too. I''ve always called it heart-finity because to me it does combine hearts and the infinity sign, like love forever or something. I really like it.

Ok, it is NOT a cutesy or childish design, it's a great design! It would really be a shame if this piece lived in a dark corner of a jewelry box! Seriously, it doesn't look childish at all.

Of course it means "two hearts as one"- yours and his. I think it's gorgeous! And very fine. I hope you wear it.

hi Itgirl! i don''t think it looks childlike at all. i can see how that design could be very flattering to a neckline, as well.

i, too, am not partial to hearts for jewelry, but my DH had given me a (very traditional) heart pendant with a small diamond for a special occasion once. at the time i was a little disappointed that he didn''t know my taste, but i tried to hide it because he had done it all on his own which i loved. apparently he picked up on the fact that i didn''t love it as much as he had hoped and i felt so awful. funny thing though - the pendant began to really grow on me! and then..... i lost it!!!! that was a few years ago and i still think of that pendant to this day and miss it and feel ill that it is not with me. i am ashamed i did not appreciate it more when he gave it to me and i so wish i had it now for its beauty and to make my DH feel great seeing me enjoy a gift he gave to me from *his* heart!

you will have plenty of time to guide your SO toward gifts in your taste, so my recommendation is to treasure the one he surprised you with for no other reason to say ''i love you!''

I just thought I''d post the BlueNile pendant that is similar to the Tiffany pendant. :)

And this is yours:

Wow very similar the only difference is the "o" rings on the Tiffany piece are on the back rather than the top :) Very very similar I guess Blue Nile wouldn''t have made a copy if no one liked it :) Thanks!
