I bought a 2 carat solitaire in platinum and I am building a ring box to present it. I am wondering if the inside color should be white or black. I was thinking black would really make the ring stand out with the platinum. But the black may not reflect much light and make diamond not sparkel so much. I have a white box now and cannot find a box with black interior to compare.

Any thoughts..?

I would say black, it will really make that 2 carat pop!! If the stone has a hint of color the white will make that apparent in the stone.

MrH,

I think it is very sweet of you to put so much time and thought into your fiance''s proposal even down to this detail. I know that you inquired between a black or white inside...but what about a red? Red = love, passion, excitement etc. Might be a great option! However, I think that in the end your fiance will appreciate and love whatever you get her, and the true test will be how the ring is on her finger not necessairily in the box! Goodluck!

I like black. Makes teh stone look whiter.

However, if you propose in dim lighting, then I say white. At least she'll see the box. I tried to propose at sunset. Got there late so it was all dark. She could barely see me let alone the little black box I was holding.

I vote for black b/t those choices. But consider a deep, sapphire blue. Mine came in that color and the diamond and the platinum metal was gleaming white!

I also had a grey/silver box and it was not as flattering to the ring IMO.

But good luck! Sounds like you are extra thoughtful!

For anyone proposing at sunset or at night, I would recommend getting a ring box with a built in light! I just bought one of EBay...it''s black on outside and inside and has a little light that turns on when you open the box. It makes the stone shine like crazy weather you''re in the light or the dark and would be perfect for a nighttime proposal! It was like $6. There''s a guy that sells them...just search for "ring box light" or something and you''ll find it.

Hahaha, that ring box is a great idea. I''m tempted to buy one even tho I''ve already proposed. My g/f looks at the ring often enough, now she can do it in the middle of the night.

Only bad thing about those light boxes is that if you have a ring with any sizeable height it will not allow the box to close due to the lighting unit. I purchased one and my 2.19 carat is too tall for the box to close.

Sorry to be a killjoy................but............who cares!

Hopefully the ring will be on the ladies finger and not in the box!!!

My fiancee''s is a dark blue. Very nice in my opinion.

I vote blue

Just to be difficult. Black is too dark, white is too bright. Blue is pretty!

Honestly, I don''t think you can go wrong with any color.

Your girlfriend will be focused on the diamond

...not what the box looks like, believe me! Even though the ring will be in there, she probably won''t "see" the box anyway.

I think a darker color will look nice...how using her favorite color?

Let us know and see what you decide!

I vote for a velvet royal blue or sapphire blue. The diamond and platinum will be dazzling against that background.
