Hi everyone. First time poster. Looking for advice please on my potential lab diamond (eeeek!!!)

I'm extremely picky so have chosen my own ring (2ct, F colour, VS2, Ideal). What do you think of the stone's report? Have been assured by jeweller the stone is eye clean. Being shipped from Surat.

ROUND BRILLIANT
MEASUREMENT: 8.08 x8.11x 4.99m
2.01
F
VS2
IDEAL
EXCELLENT POLISH
EXCELLENTSYMMETRY
FLOURESCENCE NONE
CVD
DEPTH 61.7%
TABLE 57%
MEDIUM FACETED GIRDLE
POINTED CULET

Have been quoted £3.2k with pave setting too.

Any advice welcome.

The cut seems quite off based on the advanced images. I would look up recommended PS specs and compare. Also run the numbers through the HCA calculator.

I encouraged OP to join us here at PS to get multiple assessments and points of view.

My own opinion is that this diamond suffers from a bit of light leakage and has some concerning cut quality/symmetry issues, which would result in reduced brightness, sparkle, and scintillation, especially under the table.

I am not a fan. The symmetry issues alone would have me searching for a different stone.

That said, the price is quite reasonable for a 2 carat diamond and setting. The diamond is not terrible, it just won't be as sparkly under the table and if you don't have your heart set on a more perfectly cut diamond, then this could be fine.

Do you know which lab graded this?

What about getting one of Lightbox's 2ct pendants when they come out and resetting into a ring? Will be less expensive and better cut, which means it will look bigger and whiter!

Not a great stone. You can see the light leak and unusual symmetry.
Lightbox will have 2 ct solitaires in 18 kt gold some time this month for $1600 plus setting.

I'm no MRB expert but that stone's not cut well. If size is all that matters though, then the price isn't bad. I'd keep searching.

I agree with the PP’s, there are sooo many LGD’s out there. No need to buy one that has symmetry issues. Where are you shopping?

Here's a copy of the IGI report with the pertinent details hidden so that (hopefully) those in the Trade can also comment, if they desire to:

Hi there. As a diamond newbie, this feedback is so valuable. The price is definitely a pro as I get my dream ring (on paper) for a decent price. I haven't managed to find a price match anywhere close. Unsure which lab graded the ring but the jeweller is Ouros.

Any reasonably priced ideal cut, 2 carat, G+ VS+ please hit me up. Starting to think that for the price I wont get much better :(2

Reset that into a ring! The cut is considered "very good," but the Lightbox diamonds that I have are very sparkly. Mine probably are excellent/very good.

Wait for the 2 ct solitaire ring this month.

Honestly, you are correct, you will not be able to get a better diamond in that price range. The Lightbox diamonds as suggested are well cut, but I doubt they are cut any better than this one if they provided advanced imaging (I could be wrong). You could however save a little more money on resetting one of their 2cts.... if you are lucky enough to get one when they are released. Not sure what your time frame is.

Most consumers aren't super obessed with how ideal the light performance of their diamonds are, and hundreds of millions of people have diamonds with far worse performance than this who are perfectly happy with them. =)

If this ticks all the boxes for you, I say go for it.

I'd say you have your answer, Itchy-feet93.
If you like what you see, then snag it!

On the waiting list! Let’s pray I don’t miss the email

I will have my fingers crossed for you!

I am super tempted, but reminding myself that I don’t NEED to make a 2ct solitaire right now… I totally want to use Caysie’s two tone YG/plat Jovyn setting for a Lightbox stone. C3818724-71E9-4F53-A2D8-42452F6F9506.jpeg

One thing I do want to point out - the Lightbox 2 ct diamonds will be "near colorless", meaning graded anywhere from G-J. In your original post, you mentioned being "extremely picky", and wanted to make certain you did not miss that little bit of information.

If you can handle having a diamond that is not colorless, this is an awesome route to go. However, if potentially receiving a "J" colored diamond will be unacceptable to you, this is not the route to take.

Hi everyone

The 2ct lab diamond necklace is live on Lightbox and I managed to get my hands on one. It still says coming soon but I kept refreshing and managed to snag one. Unfortunately loose stones won't ship to UK so had to pay extra. Thanks so much guys, hope my diamond doesnt disappoint! Will post it x

Eeek now have post purchase anxiety! Hoping it's more a G than a J. When they say 'very good' should I be worried as it's not excellent? Also had 10% off so final price was £1665. Thinking it's going to cost another £1k for setting so £2.6k - not bad not bad. Now the romantic feeling of bf transferring me ;)

I wouldn’t worry about J — I think I received the single fluke J in the entire suite of stones. I’ve looked quite a few places and no one had the color experience I did. The stones all face up really beautifully white with a huge size, sparkle and impact for the price. And, even having the warmest stone of the bunch, people have complimented it in person so much that I decided to keep it. You are going to have a beautiful stone.

So! She's arrived (2 days early).

I'm no diamond expert but it does seem to have some colour (more from the side from the front).

Please ignore 1. the nails and 2. the fact I can't use my left hand as I fell over during bottomless brunch and it's not in the best condition!Z9YmzZP.jpegO2yPWbo.jpegWhat are your guys thoughts?

Looks like you scored a good one! Congratulations!
