I know nothing.
Well...nothing about sapphires that is. What are it's descriptors?
If a gal was kinda maybe sorta one day gonna search for a small (like 1 carat) sapphire and wanted one like it because every time she sees it her heart goes pitter patter, how is it described for color and...??

I was lucky enough to be one of the first people that saw photos of her ring when she was buying it from a small antique jewellery store in Europe, if we call her @Acinom hopefully she will post more photos and information for you!!!

Thank you! I’m woefully ignorant of where to start. Sigh. It’s dreamy tho....

Not @Acinom (wish I were so I could borrow her amazing bling collection, lol), but I would personally describe it as "velvet", or "peacock" in lotus terminology (https://www.lotusgemology.com/index.php/lab/color-types). I would also say it has some "silk" or "glow" in it.

Sigh...dreamy.

If you eventually want to look for a stone like that, one vendor I would try is hi gems on IG. I know IG sellers can be hit or miss, but I had an excellent experience with my "jedi" spinel from him (or her).

Saw this one and thought of this thread.

Medium blue with intense saturation.

Thank you all! Baby steps LOL.
Medium blue intense saturation peacock maybe velvet with silk or glow. Origins of these...?

What a huge compliment. Thank you!!! I hope you will soon find your dreamstone. For me it was a lucky find. When I saw the stone and ring, I knew it was the one. I found mine in an antique jewelry store here in Europe.
Here are the specs:
Natural corundum (sapphire)
Color: strong, light violetish, blue
Shape: cushion, faceted
Measurements: 10,06 x 9,24 x 6,88 mm
Weight: 5.54 ct
Signs of heating
Origin: Sri Lanka (Ceylon)

Hi Acinom:wavey:

Oh she’s a beauty your girl! Wish I could see her in person. I’ve looked at your photos 1000 times I reckon. Usually after a couple of years, my wishing for something fades, but not for an itty bitty version of your lovely stone. It looks so so pretty on you, and when you wear the sapphire dotted band? Whoa!

Thank you for taking the time to chime in (and everyone)! I’ll have to start reading and scrolling, and with everyone’s help, I might find my little version :mrgreen2:

The stone is supremely saturated; serious loot. I would really want to hear what GRS calls it @Acinom ! It is the definition of vivid, velvet Royal Blue to me via R. Hughes lingo: www .

There are always a few smallish stones like this at interesting prices www (lighter), www (without silk & darker) etc.

Acinom’s sapphire is worthy of a Queen or a super fabulous celebrity (Beyoncé comes to mind as she has amazing jewels). Omg, it’s just too beautiful for words......,,,,swoon!

Acinom’s sapphire is amazing. It looks better than most Kashmir origin sapphires. It’s a special gem
So yes, you want vivid intense saturation and for the “glow” some silk inclusions. The colour I would suggest as Velvet or Royal. These are the “premium” colours.
I’ll keep my eye open for you, I’m the ebay Addict who seems to attract nice blue sapphires at bargain prices.

Oh I would very much appreciate that Bron! I'm not very savvy at searching and it intimidates the #@!% out of me LOL.

Just wanted to chime in and say @Acinom wow, what a color!!! So vivid!

Do you mind me asking what sort of a ballpark range would a ring like that cost ? Astronomical? Its beauty is certainly out of this world!

As a guide -Kashmir sapphire over 4 carats over $50,000 a carat!
Non Kashmir, Heated, top colour, vivid saturation VS Clarity over 4 carats around $11,000 a carat. Burmese origin add 50% extra.
These prices are fine in theory, a top large Kashmir sapphire is rarer than hens teeth (almost) and there’d likely be a stampede!
Top vivid colour sapphires in large sizes are also not common. So it’s not even the $$$$ it can be finding one.

There are never many, so prices depend on where & when. One of the shops I mentioned, CushionGem, specializes in such goods and have always seemed relatively common sense, there can always be higher, and if you are trying to sell one, you will see how low & slow they go.

Art of Platinum does hold a few nice sapphires sometimes.

Let me amend my description: medium blue VIVID saturation.

Please forgive my earlier comment @Acinom It's been a while and it slipped my mind that vivid exists. It is a truly beautiful stone!

@Bron357 and @AV_ Thank you for your thoughts re price. Yikes! I suppose for now I’ll have to admire from afar.

You will see wildcard stones, especially with a slight shift to purple; some are so impressive - also for very high saturation, that there really is no dicount. (maybe www)

Dont know your budget, but asked HiGems about what she had just to get a sense of price/color, etc.

This is the best one she (he?) has. Its 2.54ct, 6k price tag total. Certified, but don't know from where because I didn't want to bother with too many questions.

A less ideal option, but still nice. 3.5ct, $3800 total, also certified.

I think 3k(ish) per carat for pretty much an ideal color is very fair (too expensive for me haha, but fair meaning reasonable). Just wanted to give you a sense of price in case you wondered.

Crap, sorry for the red tinted pics. I have a stupid blue light filter on my phone that turns on at night. I'll try to re take the pics in the morning

@lovedogs Thank you very much for your time—both of those are lovely!!

Sadly, my budget is in the 1 carat range. I’d rather have a small lovely, than no lovely :geek2:

Yes :)
I'd love to say more, but realistically that's about it.
I'll take smaller, not fixated on size as much as mesmerizing color.
