Adding a halo look nice with my oval and setting?

Ok, so I received my upgrade back in November last year and since seeing it, I loved the setting which my DH picked and loved the sparkling oval. However, I suffer from slight DSS and I am really thinking a bezel milgrain halo would add so much more to the oval and the setting. I have already contacted Pete at Quest about adding a halo and he is certainly able to do it. I think the added halo would give me the coverage I am looking for an add to the vintage feel of the setting.

DH is not supportive of adding a halo because he is not certain that I will love it (since I am not 100% with this upgrade) and he is feeling scared that I will always find something I do not love and keep changing it... he also doesn't like halos. He says to wait longer before changing it...

What do you all think? Do you think an added halo would look nice on my setting?

(I just want to get an idea of what other pricescopers see... in the end, I will make my decision based on how I really feel... not necessarily what others think) Everyday, I look at my ring and wished the halo was there. I was never a halo lover... didn't care for them. But having seen the bezel ones and how the oval shape can look more enhanced ... I fell for it.

Here's my thread and current ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/upgrade-is-here-from-1-03-radiant-to-1-23-oval.182391/

I think that a halo would look nice. The real question is: are you satisfied with your stone? If you are 100% in love with it and don't plan to upgrade in the future, then make whatever modifications you think will make you happy with the setting. If the shape or size of the stone is niggling at you, I wouldn't throw $$ at a setting upgrade that will go to waste sometime in the future.

I do love bezels with fancies lime ovals, so i support it. Only if you are certain thats what you want. If you know you love your oval and its just the size and setting that is lacking. Get a new setting. If you think maybe its just that you are trying to love a stone that isnt doing it for you, than maybe start over.

over.either way i wouldnt add a halo to your existing setting. Id start fresh with a new one

Thank you Yenny and Nielseel. I appreciate your feedback. Both of your rings in your avatar have helped inspire me.

I actually do love my oval...a lot. I was asking myself if a larger stone is what I was looking for; should I save up for a stone upgrade? I actually cannot picture myself wearing a larger stone... I don't think I can pull off a larger stone without looking "tacky" in my work and social circle. I am quite small (5' tall) and my oval is quite a substantial size for my hands. DH certainly thinks so! I have no issues with the oval itself :)

I scoured the net looking for a setting with a halo and couldn't find anything I loved. Either the halo was wrong or the setting...that's where the idea of adding a halo might make sense for my personal desires. I know it isn't the wisest choice... but I am really leaning towards it. I really feel like the bezel milgrain halo would add and compliment the vintage look of my setting.

Out of respect for my DH's opinion though....I do plan on waiting... as hard as it can be...to show him that I've really thought about what I want.

Your stone is very large and on yojr finger it looks fantastic. And if you are comfortable with the aize but just want more presents i say halo that baby

I remembet from another one of your posts you liked that two tone bezel halo with plain shank, that would be beautiful with some millgraining to match your band.

OR to go super vintage you could set it like this

Are you meaning metal-only? Milgran & bezel, but no diamonds? - then I say yes. Otherwise I prefer it as it looks, which is gorgeous!!!!

I did mean milgrain bezel but with diamonds for bling :naughty:

I love your setting the way it is! I think that a halo might make it look too busy, and take away from the beautiful details.

Just my two cents; I think it would be pretty with the halo, but without diamonds. :)

I just have to say that I LOVE your setting, just as it is right now  And I love it with the bands in the picture you posted. Now, I am also a halo fan and used to have one...But I'm not sure if a halo would work with this setting? I guess it would just depend on the style. But really...I really really love love your setting...I'm actually going to save this pic to my "inspiration" folder for when I change my setting one day
