First time poster, just looking for some advice/thoughts.

I have a lovely three stone engagement ring - specs: platinum, three stone basket set diamond ring, G VS1, total carat weight 0.64 (center circa 0.3ct, sides 0.17ct).

This is teamed with a very delicate half eternity platinum diamond ring (very thin - 1.9mm, pave/bead set).

My husband has said that I can have a RHR for our next big anniversary and, being impatient, I have started looking even though this is a while away yet.

I am heading towards a pear diamond (circa between 0.7ct and 0.9ct) solitaire with channel set band, or a 5 stone round diamond ring (most likely the WF trellis setting which is stunning, around 0.25ct).

But i don't know which one is going to look right given that my engagement ring is a relatively small (but gorgeous) three stone ring. I don't want to outshine it, but I do want something a bit more bling :naughty: .

I was also wondering whether it would be strange to wear a solitaire on my right hand?

Does anyone have a solitaire they wear as a RHR?

Thanks

Hi kmystery & welcome! I have a pear with channel set shoulders, which you can see in my avatar. The pear is 1.02 carats & it is pretty large - I wouldn't go that big in a pear for the RH personally. I like my wedding rings to be the star of the show :)) My pear measures 6mm x 7.5mm so I imagine a .90 wouldn't be too much smaller?

Have you ever thought about a coloured stone for your RH? I wear a 1 carat oval hot pink, unheated sapphire set in a plain platinum band, which we bought after the birth of our first daughter. It is lovely & simple & classy, but very different to my engagement ring =)

I love both ideas you are considering. I've recently had a fascination with pears, myself, so I especially like that one. But, I would be concerned about the height of a RHR. Assuming that you are right handed, I don't think you want it to be set too high. Even if it's not an everyday ring, it's still more likely to be knocked around when you do wear it. Also, if you are able to create the look you want, with a lower set center stone, I think it will look a little less like an ering.

Can't beat eternity bands for sheer *bling*, IMO!
My eternity is by far my blingiest piece - multi-stone Ering included. Having diamonds all the way around is like steroids for the InYourFaceSparkle factor... so I vote five-stone - just, y'know, with a few more stones on both sides

I vote 5 stone also...you can see mine in my avatar.

Another vote for the 5 stone, more practical for a RHR

RHR - 5 stone all the way
LH replacing your ering (if that's an option) -solitiare.

For me, I'd have to decide first which hand I'm committing this ring to, then I'd find which style, easier to decide on. But like Yssie, tyty and aprilbaby have said above, 5 stones ROCK for bling factor!!

thanks for the replies.
this will definitely be a RHR - I don't want to replace my engagement ring - so it seems that the 5 stone is the best way to go. Now for the fun of decided on a design. So far, I like the Whiteflash trellis design, which is simply stunning, but I also like this one (semi-bezel, open sides), It is a bit different, not quite as delicate, but I'm not that delicate (why i suppose the solitaire was not a good idea) and this seems a bit more solid

Thanks again

^ I love that setting mind telling me who did that? Do you have more pics?

I found it on a UK website - pure diamonds - and some more pictures attached. I really ilke the look of this but would have to see if a local jeweler could make it.

I also love bar settings though.... this is going to be so difficult to decide and the problem is nowhere local to me stocks anything even vaguely similar to try on!
