Advice for buying a used Cartier Trinity ring

I am interested in buying a used, plain gold Trinity ring to wear occasionally in lieu of my wedding and engagement ring at times when I don't want to wear diamonds. I have a couple questions about buying a second-hand one, though:

1) Would Cartier polish it for me and if so, would the cost of that eat into the savings I incur from buying it used? New ones retail for $1,050 and I've seen some good used ones for $650-850.
2) I am not thrilled with how prominent the Cartier logo inscription is. I want a Cartier ring but wish the logo was only inscribed inside the bands. I don't remember older rings having such a prominent inscription. Has this always been the case, though, or does anyone know when Cartier started making them so prominent?

Thanks in advance.

The prominent logo is relatively recent. Mine is about 10 years old and has the logo inside the RG band.
I have never had Cartier polish my ring so I cannot speak to your other questions. I do see many available on estate jewelry sites. I would definitely buy pre-owned today if I were looking.
It's a great piece!

I got mine used from an estate jeweler on eBay. I love it. I started a wtb thread over in the preloved section and got lots of post with good finds, but they just didn't fit my fingers. That's the route I would go. Maybe even take a look at the one I started see if there are any that might work :wavey:

HI:

I took one of mine to a my local bench--and they did it. My new one (purchased in Cartier Paris last year) still looks great so it doesn't need to be done but I would be surprised it Cartier didn't charge for this service.

cheers--Sharon

The exterior logo changes from time to time. For several years the trinity rings were engraved with the "le must de cartier" logo, but just "cartier" written in script seems to be the most common. They also had "cartier" in block letters for a short time. I think the thinner versions might be sans inscription though..?

Does it have to be Cartier? My moms was from Woodstock ny. Handmade is is beautiful, I found some websites that sell them through google. I did not care for the large name on the Cartier ones either.

I have the ultra thin one (the thinnest one available) and it has the Cartier inscription on the rose gold band. In my case, b/c the bands are so thin, the inscription isn't very noticeable unless you shove your eye up to it.

I have seen some lovely rolling rings that aren't Cartier but I do want the Cartier one since it's so iconic. I just don't need to telegraph the fact that it's Cartier to everyone!

I'm looking for the small one that is 2.9 mm wide but would be happy with the classic version that is 3.5 mm if it were at the right price.

Niel, may I ask which eBay store you purchased yours from?

Those thinner ones are out there plain without branding. Took me a few weeks to find but it was worth it I really didn't want the little outside branding. Mine came per polished but I'm sure a local jeweler could probably do it for you.

Eta yeah let me go look. They only had the one, but they might get more.

Hi!
No worries about Cartier polishing it for free.
I have bought a few "slightly used" Cartier rings on Ebay and I have brought them in to Cartier to have them polished. They do it while you wait and for free.. very nice. :appl:
I usually wear them on vacation and bring them into the Cartier store in the city that we are visiting. I have also brought them into the New York 5th Avenue store with the same lovely service.
Enjoy!
