Hi

Would you please help me choose a diamond for an engagement ring -- from James Allen.

I have chosen the White Gold Bar-Set Pave Set (Item#: 17104W14) from James Allen
http://www.jamesallen.com/engagemen...ave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-17104w14.html

I'm debating about the 3 diamonds below:
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds-search/?View=4&Tab=3&Comparison=1548116,1543998,1549419

I'm leaning towards the 1549419, better color/clarity but only "Good" cut. What would you advise?

Could you please also comment on the price listed for those?

Thanks

It is only a good cut because it is deep and faces up like .8 cts.

thanks for your reply JulieN

Sorry, i'm a total rookie at this -- I would appreciate if you confirm if I'm going about this the correct way.

So the 1549419 is deep, if I read/understood correctly, the depth is bigger in this diamond and the "table" is like a .8c instead of the .95c it really is.

I'm thinking this might be good for the setting that I choose, since the side would be open and the side of the diamond would be visible in this case.

Would really appreciate your comment on this and if it is worth the price tag.

thanks!

I would suggest this:

Is this going to be a men's ring? If not, I'd take into consideration how big that setting will look. If it is, then never mind.

The 419 is very deep, and the for .95 cts, it will look more like a .85, that is, the diameter measurements are similar to an ideal cut .85. (Not the table, which is the flat facet on the top.) The correct way to get a very 3D diamond is to get one with a small table and high crown angle, not with a thick girdle.

Here are some alternatives, ask if the inclusions are obvious from the side: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds-search/?View=4&Tab=3&Comparison=1515484,1534312,1541200,1543622,1545848

thank you both very much for your help. Sorry to bother you again, but the reply from 04diamond<3 got me thinking about something that I did not realized before -- that the setting might look too big. It is for a woman's ring and it would be small Size = 3.5.

Does that mean I should choose smaller size centre pieces? or would your recommendations still be good?

Nope, just a more feminine setting, something more delicate. Do you know what she likes?

I love this diamond that JulieN posted:

and how about these settings:

thank you all again for your help..

I hesitated a couple of times and twice the diamond I chose was taken just before I purchased!

I'm still set on the setting.. still going with the

Item # 17104w14 : 14k White Gold Bar-Set Pave Set Diamond Engagement Ring.

I have now seen the one below:

can you please give me your opinions.. And I would really appreciate your suggestions if there are better alternatives at the same price point..

Thanks a lot!
Ken

what is your budget? so you have any size color or clarity requirements?

Hi Christina

Budget is between < 4K for the diamond. I don't really have any preference -- I'm thinking somethere around the 1ct as size...
the diamond will show on the side with this setting -- so less visible inclusions as possible..
